What I mean by that is love him or not, he was a different type of winner for this show and showed that it was growing up and actually picking Musicians to win the show over bland Pop acts.
However since then anyone that isn't fitting the bland, screechy Pop route is often ridiculed by the production and the general public if they just put one foot wrong, why is that?
By the way I'm not anti-Pop over anything different if the Pop singer is actually good, however I just feel that this show would literally vote for them over a Rock, Indie, Rapper, or even Soul Music (which is normally quite mainstream) even if the Pop singer is significantly weaker.
So yeah will we ever get anyone interesting like James win again? Or if someone of his type does win will they have to be Popped up so much that they are their genre in name only?
