I notice that Jay is taking the lead in "Big" the musical, so I presume Danny could do something similar. He could do more of a show musical.

He could certainly be in an ensemble...

Depends if he can sing well enough, and if he can act well enough. His acting doesn't look that outstanding to me, , and he was taken on for understudy bok which isn't a big singing role - its not like getting a lead in les Mis at 21. The title and name recognition would help though - just look at the Ghost casting.

Jay seems to be getting good reviews for his acting and singing in Big , But they suggest the heavy duty number is being sung by Diana Vickers - who has an awful lot of power when she switches it on.

For anyone who wants to know what standard an art ed graduate would be at - look at the youtube above - there seems to be 5 arts ed graduates in that cast. Doing Strictly might just get Danny to the leading roie they can't get yet.

I've no real idea how long it would take, but he said in that Philip/Holly interview that when he went to stage school at 18 he couldn't keep up with the men who'd been dancing since they were boys, which was why he didn't specialise in dance and chose acting instead.

Maybe it's like the difference between someone who has the talent, and somebody who has already done all the work. Mozart once complained about an opera lead castrato, that "he cannot read music, so I have to teach him the role note by note". Oti gets him through a dance or two each week by putting in a lot of hours each week, but it doesn't mean he knows all his body can do, has the conditioning, or knows most of the 'language' of dance yet.

I can imagine Danny being involved in more stage work involving dancing/acting but he will never be good enough to be a pro ballroom or latin dancer, but I can't imagine he would want to be.

It would depend on what he wants to do. However one of my dance teachers took a short time out to pursue another career before going back to dancing and found himself at a huge disadvantage. Also I can't see any advantage at all to his becoming a ballroom professional since he is a bit old to start competing and he wouldn't want to teach. He's better just developing those skills in his spare time if he enjoys ballroom (another string to his bow as a performer) and continuing with his present more diverse (and definitely more lucrative) career.
