There never seems to have been a thread for this show. Anyway, it has just finished after 6 weeks and the winners are (drum roll) Barry and Stuart, who will win their own TV special. This pair have often been on TV and have had at least one magic special in their name already.

Last week we had The Clairvoyants, Thommy and Amelie, a mind reading act which I had seen on America's Got Talent a short while ago. They did much the same routine.

However, there were some magicians I hadn't seen before!

I saw this and I did not think that the winners should of won
I liked the 1st 3 acts best with the chap that did ring trick being in my view the best

I was confused by this show. I'm a huge magic fan so was thrilled when I heard about it- I was excited to see new talent emerging. Yet most acts were already well established talents who have had TV shows, uk tours etc before. I for one have seen Pete Firman 4 times on tour - and I've met him he's a lovely guy.
While I was thrilled to see Pete, along with the likes of Barry & Stuart, Laura London, Morgan & West and Katherine Mills on my TV, I was really hoping to see new talent and find "the next great magician" rather than seeing established great magicians.

I will say though I'm thrilled Barry and Stuart won as I'm a big fan of theirs. Though I'd happily have seen any of the 5 finalists win apart from Xavier Mortimer. I loved his act but the fake hand being so obvious really spoiled that part just as it had in his qualifying round.

At least we are guaranteed one good magic show will come from this....

The camera never left the buggy, except when he asked Sinitta to walk over and wave to his partner who was down on the beach.

So obvious it was embarrassing.

That was one of the 'easiest' tricks and IMO very obviously done (if you are the person being duped, then it's easy to get caught up in it all, but on the tv it's not very impressive. Very surprised it won this contest!

Would have been better to have continued airing Penn and Teller Fool Us but channel 5 have that now!

Bugger !!! I have been watching this every week and the last episode clashed with another show so was meant to watch later that night.

I found it weird that the other magicians chose who won. Also I did not agree with a couple of the winners of that week.

Off to watch the final now

That act that won them the show outside the studio was garbage I thought, but overall the series was great.

The illusionist first on should have one it was incredible.

The trick with the borrowed ring appearing inside a walnut which was inside an egg which was inside an orange was done very slickly by Mr Pete Firman.

The voting system was rather unusual and I was surprised by some of the magicians' choices.

Yes! More so because of how brilliant the second bit with the skipping was. He's clearly very good- so why is he letting himself down with something so obviously fake? It's so disappointing.

I found the final a big let down to be honest the weekly heats were much better, as for Barry and Stuart there was certainly not much magic in that performance was anyone actually fooled by that I certainly wasn't.

I like Barry and Stuart.
They have enough material to do a special.
However, I don't think what they did in the final was a winning piece.

I think the act had to be a certain length and whilst extremely good, you can't stretch out going up and down a few times to cover the time required. So he added the hand bit.

Just watched this and why did those 2 get such a long time to do their 'trick'.

It was obvious how it was done and God was it boring. There is no way I will be watching their spectacular.

Pete Firman was the winner for me. He held my attention and love the jokes. He reminds me of a cross between Steve Coogan and Nick Grimshaw.

I did like the scary magician. Very unique.

I have to agree that the whole voting system was strange especially for the final

Now having looked over the internet including the Facebook forum and it appears the voting system was all one big con

No one voted for Barry and Stewart it was all pre decided that they was going to win from the outset and this was just a vehicle to give them there own show

If you email ITV and ask them who voted for who in the final you won't get a reply as it was all a fake !

I have gone and seen Pete Firman's live show twice now and it's great fun and he is a very professional entertainer even if it all looks like he is manically racing around.

Being a magician I fully understand the full workings of the very old "Egg Bag" routine, but Pete Firman's presentation of it left me stunned and well as laughing my head off. He is extremely good at the handling.

He even got me up to help him with a suspension routine and treated me very nicely and professionally. I returned the niceness by acting like a didn't know how it was done or being awkward by going where I shouldn't be or insisting on inspecting anything I knew not to. Not that I would ruin any other magician's act no matter how they treated me.

Go see Pete Firman live. Hilariously funny and a bloody good magician as well. Nice bloke too!

You are a magician I am one of those people who want to know how it's done but don't

My friends son is a magician and he did the one sponge ball in the hand trick.... he did his bit .. I opened my hand and there were 3 balls there It was so close but not a clue how it was done.

I do like funny magicians so will see if he is in my area.

That's called "Normal!"

Just enjoy it for what it is or if you really want to know and study it become a magician yourself. Never too late to start and open to absolutely everyone on the planet.

There are people who don't want to know and are let down when they do, so it why it's best to keep things to yourself. There is no big reason beyond that to keep it a secret.

When you are a magician and know how something is done, you can still gain enjoyment from it as you are then watching the style, performance and professionalism of the magician. Even knowing the full workings of a quick change-over, seeing it done almost possibly fast is still stunning even for another magician. You know exactly what they did but don't know how they did it that fast and fully appreciate the amount of practise that it took. Or even small slights of hand done smoothly and with style are great to watch and indeed learn form!

I think the problem is because the public did not vote the newspapers would not be interested

A friend of mine who knows one of the contestants told me this was correct and unlike X factor all the acts got paid to attend and was all good exposure

The contact they signed had a NDA which they had to agree not to talk about the voting system to the press , so everyone that took part including the presenters knew what was going on
