It's the TOWIE generation - talentless wannabes are lauded as heroes.

I voted for him because he was better then Saara for me, not because of how he looks. They will both end up with a contract anyway so what does it matter

definatley the girl vote falling for Matts appearance is what won it because he wasn't the best singer on the night and if the best singer won then the outcome would've been different and Saara would have the title

I wish they would scrap the terrible app vote. I do wonder how different the results would have been if it was still just phone only. I doubt Matt would have benefited anywhere near as much if the 5am fans had to actually pay to transfer all their votes to him. Saara flopped in the lifeline votes, so I suspect she didn't have many teen girls multi-voting for her for free.

I'm not a teenage girl but voted for Matt because I thought he was best on Sunday and this duet with Nicole was excellent not only that but he has an incredible voice.

Also Matt didn't win because of the girl vote he won because he is very talented.

I agree Hun but most of the people moaning and using every excuse they can to make out like Matt only won because of 'the girl vote' I'm not a teenager and I based my votes on the night on who I found better which to me was Matt, Saara was good but not good enough

Many people think that the teen girl vote may be responsible for Matt's win but the truth is that it's the producers behind it.

They are capable of motivating the vote for whomever they choose hence Little Mix, Sam Bailey, Louisa etc... also being crowned winners!

I don't doubt that they need to put some extra effort in to achieve a female winner but it is entirely possible.

That's not taking anything away from Matt because without doubt he is extremely talented but imo no more so than some performers who left much earlier because they lacked producer support.

I hate how people on this forum just assume everyone who voted for Matt is either racist or a teenage girl/bored housewife. I know lots of people who voted for Matt that fit into neither of those categories, including my 28 year old boyfriend and 54 year old dad. They did so because they enjoyed Matt's performances more than Saara's.
