That's true. It's kind of a shame they are equally as famous for things other than ther singing talents.. modern celeb = sex sells

Still, good luck to them. They know what the people want. Nice, humble girls who was fans just like us a few years ago !

I remember when they won they didn't dress like that. I don't see why it's necessary.

They are very clued up now about the media, what sells and what the papers write about.

Plus they are more developed into lovely looking women. Have money to fix imperfections etc.

Its necessary because it sells.

They could all sing in sweaters and jeans but they wouldn't last long.

Actually they are selling rather a large number of records (no 1 singles and albums).
Do you really think their records sell on the strength of their 'sexy' image?

What do you think is their main demographic?
Who buys their records?

Yes and if you don't believe me name some short fat xfactor contestants who are successful in pop.

The point is that their demographic is primarily young women like themselves and younger.....how does LM's supposedly sexy image sell records to them?

Also, there is nothing sexually provocative about them, they are just confident in their own skin.

And LM don't write the stories in the Daily Fail...blame that on a scurrilous press.

Now why would that be...different standards? You mean blatant sexism, like Olly would never be judged on his looks but LM are, almost by definition. They can't win with these attitudes so why bother...and that's what they do, they don't bother. They don't do provocative sexy, they're just themselves. Get used to it.

The double standards are irrelevant. What matters is the way things are, not the way you wish they were and in reality pop is all about image.

guys when the top DailyMail comments are unanimously nice about Little Mix and don't complain about their clothes whilst some of you keep going, it's time you give it a rest

Complaining about it is daft, but I think there's an interesting question about how much you appeal to objectification when you're promoting a band (and it's not the outfits; it's the moves)

Sex has been used to sell music since forever, but there's a risk of people tuning in just to see some gyrating bodies instead of listen to the music if the music is a bit by-the-numbers

Lots of people were just ogling LM tonight (and not for the first time) and I honestly don't know where pandering to that becomes unacceptable, or if there is a point where it becomes unacceptable

Are they? See Daily Mail above....especially the right hand column.

And what you're really saying is that Little Mix have to dress like that or they wouldn't get noticed, is that it?

Is it a bad thing if it pleases people?

Exactly, they're the best example of bitter people on the Internet and are always complaining about whatever Little Mix does. Tonight, though, they're complimenting the vocals and the performance, which are the actual point of their appearance and should be the focus.

Little Mix don't have the best selling arena tour in the UK in 2016 because of how they dress.

The Daily Mail isn't evidence. Its a posh tabloid.
And just to make it clear, yes i am saying they wouldn't be as popular if they didn't dress like that and sell stories about their sex lives.
Its the way pop is.

They were 18-20 year old girls, they are now 23-25 year old women.

As the comment above says above Little Mix had the biggest UK arena tour this year and it wasn't because of their sexy image which is irrelevant to their audience.

Check out Adele on the image is everything in pop argument.

1. So the Daily Mail, which normally lies and spreads hate and division, is now a good judge because you agree with them on something ?

2. I didn't say they were only successful because of how they dress.
Its also how they look and how they're sold to their fans.

Then why wear such outfits and such body movements? They can be less sexual in their performance, if they wanted to, and they would show people a different image. Surely, their performance image is very different to who they really are, as they won't be wearing such outfits in their normal daily life in the street, unless they do .

Adele isn't a manufactured talent show pop star. Its nowhere near a fair comparison.
