Final 3 Vote Freeze (Saara 35.3% / Matt 33.4% / 5AM - 31.3%)

Matt's survival was down to Nicole. He was totally going to come third if it was not for the duet.

I think most of 5AM's fan base would've transferred their votes to Matt and that's why he won.

Never underestimate the Pussycat Doll.

Nicole was determined to get Matt through the finish line.

interesting, the producers wanted matt to win and that's why they gave sarra a poor song then she wouldn't stand a chance and they get what they want

I've got to agree with the others before me in saying that Matt & Nicole's duet really put him over the edge - otherwise we would have seen Saara take the crown with an extremely narrow victory.

I wonder though if Matt had gone out on the first vote (as Simon predicted ) would his votes have gone to 5 am and prevent a saara victory ?

But I think the OP is saying that Matt nearly fell at the first hurdle on Saturday and then could not have won at all.

See, this is the problem with this forum, particularly with 'crowdsurfers' like you John who seem to just post whatever seems popular. They apply the same thought process to each year without seeing if it even applies.

Someone won, so it must have been fixed for that person. Eh? Um...did you see the song choices they were giving Saara in the final and the last 3 weeks as a whole? Most acts would kill for a pimping like she got.

People need to get this into their heads: just because someone won X Factor doesn't mean it was fixed for them to do so. Last year it was, and a few others, but not this time nor many others.

Huh? How can you claim to know that it was a fix on other occasions and not this year? There is no logic to your statement whatsoever!

It's interesting that how much the odds underrestimated 5am looking at that figure. They were all very close, 5am got 31.3%. I checked the odds on Saturday and they were a staggering long 55/1 to win and a very very short 1/9 to finish 3rd. Looking at the odds, you'd assume if votes has any slight correlation to odds, then they would have barely got 5%.

Someone could have had gotten some serious money there because they did very well in the votes despite odds showing they had no chance in hell.

Kind of like the Ben/Fleur thing, odds were so close, but in fact for the whole competition Ben was wiping the floor with everyone.

Like many others I think Saara bit failed with song choises on final, but I don't think end result would've been different with different songs as Matt crushed Saara on Sunday votes and that couldn't be just because of song choices and performances.

Th vote percentage showed that it was the closest final ever, Matts victory isn't a fix, however he was helped by the Nicole duet where she did everything to get him over the finishing line, plus the winners single was more suited to him than it was to Saara.

I don't truly believe that Matt was better than Saara overall contrary to the votes, it was two moments the duet and the winners single, that was it, other than that Saara would have won.

Wasn't there option to edit posts?

Oh well, just if someone is interested and didn't want to count themselves these sunday votes.

Based on information that 6,4 million votes was given over saturday and sunday.

Saara:
- Saturday: 35,3% / 801200 votes
- Sunday: 43,2% / 1784400 votes
Matt:
- Saturday: 33,4% / 758000 votes
- Sunday: 56,8% / 2345900 votes
5am:
- Saturday: 31,3% / 710400 votes

It would be nice to see how voting has gone hour by hour.

They should never have allowed a vote reset on the app. All the dumb teens who were voting 5AM clearly then switched to Matt.

Not too sure how a song not sung until after the vote closed could help.

Exactly, and I'd rather get rid of app voting anyway and keep it to old fashioned phone votes. I think app voting encourages block voting that hormonal teens are more likely to take advantage of.

The app only lifeline vote gives us a good idea of how the free app voters were voting throughout. Saara tanked in that, only beating Bratavio and getting soundly beaten by acts like Sam, Ryan, Freddy and 4 of Diamonds- dropping into the sing off each time despite never being bottom 2-I think this was the only one this happened to. Saara had to rely on people actually picking up the phone and paying to vote rather than voting 50 times for free from their mobile devices. Once 5am were gone, she was doomed, as we can see from the votes.

Nicole played a blinder- Sharon and Louis couldn't care less about their acts.

I agree with you that Saara got alot of help, great time slots, songs that suited her style (most of the time) and some decent stage production.

However the final is when the general public get involved, and extra people watch that have never watched probably an episode of the series before, and what they got was Nicole's brilliant vocal on Matt's duet, Nicole telling England (and in the end added all of the other British countries) to vote for their own which is obviously playing on the more patriotic angle of society.

And the final nail in any chance of stopping Matt from winning was that bizarre duet choice for 5AM.

Yes sorry I didn't read the post properly .

But in any case I think Saara wasn't going to win as Matt's votes would've gone to 5am imo.
