Time for a new show format or a few tweaks?
How would it be if the format was revamped completely - or at least tweaked a bit?
Instead of having eliminations each week from Week 2 onwards.... how would it be if they only eliminated from say... Week 6 onwards, instead? As things currently stand, the less experienced, more inhibited, lesser known celebs have very little opportunity to show what they are able to do and try a range of dances. Much as I was not fond of Tameka, based on what I saw of her, she really had no adequate chance to show what she could do before being kicked off - and the same goes for Melvin too of course. Now as I see it, the obvious benefit of this would be that over the course of six weeks all dancers would all have longer to show what they were able to do and try a greater range of dances before the public started voting for them. They would also have a better chance to build up a "fanbase" before eliminations began. It does seem a bit daft to kick people out after only dancing 2 or 3 times. How can anyone TRULY be assessed after so little time and opportunity? I think it would be nice to have a few weeks without all the voting angst to just enjoy the dancing and to get a feel for the potential of all the celeb dancers - and of course also to let the various pros show what they have managed to teach. I mean, the pros are being paid to teach their celebs, and the celebs are being paid too (for at least 6 weeks work anyway - or thereabouts) - so why not get more dancing for the money being paid? |

Maybe judges top... immunity from leaving... the rest public vote only. So they can only save one of their favourite.... not 3 hahaha

I'd be happy to keep the lot in for the duration. Have them all marked and then the top three have a big dance off.
It may take away the thrill though for many viewers. I would just like to see everyone's possible improvements or stagnation. |

The Clifton's have to dance with one leg tied to their partner's.
Introduce the hokey cokeyathon. Scissors, paper, stone to replace the dance off. |

Get rid of the judges and make it a Public only vote and then we can stop the manipulation of who goes and who stays.

Maybe like they do in final the judges marking doesn't mean anything so it's all done on public vote

as the most watched Sat evening TV show I highly doubt the BBC would consider any tweaks necessary

For what it's worth, I'd have liked to see more of the celeb dancers who were eliminated early on. Ed was such a good example of someone who made genuine improvement from a very ropey start to being very entertaining and who learned quite a lot of decent dance moves. Who's to say that Tameka and Melvin wouldn't have done the same if they'd had longer to improve their technique, get more comfortable with dancing and to make a bigger impression on the viewers. Who knows... the end result might ultimately be the same but the journey to get there might look very different with a different format.

I would like to see some sort of handicap system to account for obvious ringers.
Maybe award points for progress? |

Don't bother with the dance off! Just boot off the one who lost the public vote.

I would like the judges to have two sets of marks. One for technique and the other for presentation.

The weekly eliminations are neccessary, I think. The lack of jeopardy, drama and controversy would make a rather dull show.
I much preferred the series without dance offs - the judges have too much power under the current format, and it favours those with previous experience too much. However, that boat has sailed and is not coming back ever. |

I do accept however that lots of people like these things - and like to feel involved with the process - so that's why I think that there probably should still be eliminations.... but just not from such an early stage as Week 2. I completely agree with your points about the dance-off. |

I think they should get rid of the semi final dance off. It's not very fair (in the case of this year) when 50% of the couples left will end up in the dance off, and it gives the judges too much power at this stage of the competition.

I'd actually like to be able to vote for one of the eliminated contestants to be given a golden ticket to Blackpool. Give someone a second chance |

What the OP really means is. 'I didn't get the result I wanted, do therefore it is upto the BBC to alter the show to fit MY specific needs'
For pities sake the BBC just lost Bake Off they are hardly going to severely alter their now most popular show because some people are pissed off so and so got sent home in week 5. |
