If Money was no object, which hotel would you stay at?

I've always wanted to stay at Rayavadee in Krabi, Thailand.

It has the most spectacular setting, on its own wooded peninsula, with the warm turquoise ocean on both sides and surrounded by soaring limestone cliffs. There's a huge infinity pool looking out over the bay. The hotel has luxurious pool villas scattered about the spacious grounds.

It's not phenomenally expensive like the Burj Arab or somewhere like that but I'd still prefer it to an 7* hotel somewhere less scenic.

Do you prefer to rent villas ?

This resort would be my other choice, a new Maldives island called Milaidhoo which has just opened. 300 x 800m, tiny, with only 50 villas. It's about £2k a night minimum so I'll never be able to afford it, but it looks so beautiful.

the thought of sleeping in a hotel bed makes my skin crawl so if money was no object i would buy a trailer of some kind [and employ a driver].

That Sydney hotel has a great central location, Dee.

This thread could be useful and give us all holiday ideas.

There's a rather nice one in Torquay that I fancy, which even has a room with views of herds of Wildebeest sweeping majestically past. Sounds great and all for just £7.20p a night.

Or any hotel that is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.

Alternative to a hotel would be to rent an upscale luxury yacht for the summer months around the med.

Mayfair and Park Lane I suppose. Though I'm more of an Old Kent Road man by nature.

Not being too fussy I would settle for The Dorchester, The Ritz or The Mayfair, and when in Singapore one of those superb hotels on or just off of Orchard Rd.

For the show I'd stay at the Shanghai again asking for the room I had & took this photo from! Would be amazing for new year & the hotel was lovely, particularly the cocktail lounge that was about 7 floors higher than my room!

The Icehotel in Sweden. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ic...w=1360&bih=591 hopefully with the aurora borealis making an appearance at some point (unlike when I did my Hurtigruten trip and it stubbornly refused to show it's face ).

I'm with you there (not literally, of course)

If I were forced to take a holiday with this money then I would try and opt for a self-contained chalet or maybe villa with a nice sea view and a private pool.

I find hotels very strange places, particularly five star hotels, I don't need that level of being fussed over, it's just an embarrassment.

Makes your skin crawl?
Don't get that, do you think that the sheets/duvet covers are never washed, or what?
Personally I only use hotels for short stays, Friday p.m. to Monday a.m. for example, other than that I rent a house/condo/apartment etc. for a week or more.
I've stayed in lots of hotels, I don't doubt that there are many that people think of as better than the two that I most remember as really outstanding, and luxurious.
First would be the Baglioni Regina, on Via Vittorio Veneto, Rome, second would be The Westin Valencia, almost opposite Valencia C.F.s football stadium in Valencia, Spain.

All joking aside there is a brilliant hotel in Torquay "The Sommerville"
