Too smart for intelligence reports. His trumpets agree of course and anyone who doesn't is a leftie liberal. Where do you even start with this? Strange days.

It is strange days when people deliberately misquote and start threads based on it and then go on to make derogatory comments about his supporters.

I'd say the lack of intelligence stands with people who don't bother to check facts before commenting or posting.

Here's what he actually said, I have even set the start time so you can go right to that section at 2:40.

https://youtu.be/lysx7s9ocJU?t=2m40s

The crux of it is that his generals are briefed daily, he doesn't want to hear nearly the same thing every day. He does attend briefings when needed and if there are significant changes he'll be available at 1 minutes notice for a briefing. From time to time there will be situations occurring when he'll need very frequent and regular briefings, more frequently than once a day. .

Given the daily briefings are pretty much that...

They don't do them for fun, but because things do change every day, sometimes it's minor changes, sometimes major ones, but they do change at least often enough for a daily briefing (which from memory the president gets early in the morning) as a general summary of what is going on in the world, then if something urgent comes up the president gets additional briefings on specific items as and when needed.

Mind you this is the same guy who doesn't seem to think you need to prepare for anything as he is so smart (whilst those who are actually smart tend to try and get as much information in advance as possible and think about what might need to be done before they are on a tight clock).

One of the key reasons for the briefings is so that if/when something major happens the president is already aware of a general background and they're not trying to explain really basic information to him when the faecal has hit the rotatory cooling device and a decision needs to be made fast.

The "intelligence" we're discussing is "the collection of information of military or political value" not how 'smart' someone is. But keep on defending this nutter, he's laughing all the way to the White House.

He is still attending them around once a week, and his generals get them which means they can discuss with him what might crop up etc.

If you watch the video he explains why, he understands the need to delegate so that he can get more done and change things, rather than sit and listen to very similar briefings every day. He will no doubt trust the judgement of the people appointed to attend them daily whilst he may only attend once a week. https://youtu.be/lysx7s9ocJU?t=2m40s

He has considerable business experience and I think he would know best, over somebody on the internet who works at Curry's or whatever, sounds sensible to me and his explanation made sense in the interview. I only posted in the thread to point out that what is in the thread title wasn't at all what was said and to correct the record.

Wouldn't the smart thing be to suck it and see first?
He may have business experience but this is a very different role so lets hope he's not been elected in accordance with the Peter principle.
Until he's had a months or even just a weeks daily briefings how can he be in a position to value them accordingly. Any briefings he gets as president elect are unlikely to be exactly the same as the ones he will get in power as he's not yet making the decisions.

I would have thought it's 1 briefing, but I think he is better placed to decide that than us. Also I would say delegation is a good thing, he will likely rely on his generals to make some decisions.

I don't have a strong opinion on whether or not it is a good idea, I do have a strong opinion on deliberately posting misleading threads or anti-trump articles and that is what I entered this thread to point out / correct.

Maybe the public would feel more secure. That's a point.

One briefing is enough to know its not atypical?
We'll have to disagree on that right there.

IT sounds like he's going to do the job in his own way not just bow to what has always been done before, that can go one of two ways, I guess we have to wait and see which way it does go. But a smart man surely doesn't need to keep telling everyone how smart he is, it should be obvious.

The public would feel more secure if he's being told the same thing over and over? Where's the sense in that?

It was shaming supporters or even the undecided that helped put him in the Whitehouse and left those doing the shaming, on the morning after looking like slack jawed gimps.

The thread title is the title of the article.

Wow, you weren't kidding and it is still going on. I always find is shockingly unreal how much people believe and trust what is in the press.

The wikipedia page for the newspaper which published the article says it has been criticised for clickbait headlines.

It is a shame some of the press are now in the gutter and reporting misleading headlines to get clicks, It is also a shame that people read clickbait headlines and then post the headline on forums.

Once again, watch this for 30 seconds and you'll see what he actually said https://youtu.be/9ND8IMjwxes?t=2m5s

Obama also only attended 40% of them, Trump so far is only going weekly.

But I wonder what 'weekly' would equate to? 10%? 20%?

Given that he has no political background whatsoever, I would've thought that initially he should be attending 'every' briefing but hang on... he's too smart for that isn't he..

(more like too stupid).

I do have this vision of the Donald getting very bored of all the administrative work attached to being POTUS. Staying up through the night going through official papers, attending endless meetings, listening to debriefs (which he's already decided he doesn't want to do unless he has to).

He is a snap fingers, reckless, you're fired, get outta here, sue that bastard type of person. Where is he going to get this endless source of patience from? You can tell when he's interviewed whether he's bored, irritated or just not listening.

Yeah he's 'draining the swamp' but filling it up again with his own murky swamp dwellers. Let's just hope he doesn't last 4 years let alone 8. How pompous and ego driven to even mention 8 years in that interview, given he's not been sworn in yet...sums him up really...

So I hear they are afraid of Putin in Germany, too. The elections are not sooner than in September, but they already know, that if you are not voting for Merkel, you are falling for Russian propaganda. It remains to be seen if they bang you up for it, too

He is actually quite fair on the apprentice, which by the way is a show designed specifically to fire somebody each week as part of the format and to put people through the process as part of the show.

However I should imagine that his approach to public office will be quite different. I agree with his approach of getting things done, he's correct that China would build 9 stadiums / power stations / bridges for 1/4 the cost of what we would here in the UK or they would in the US, and that we would spend 9 years talking about 1 in the time China has built 9.

I don't want the top man tied up in the same meetings every day which haven't significantly changed since the previous day. I'd rather he did what he suggests and get on with the task he has set himself.

Seemingly one of the major reasons why he was elected was precisely because people wanted a non politician into the white house to cleanout the executive branch and get our financial house in order. Most other presidents don't have the decades of business experience, he could turn out to be the best president they've ever had, somebody will balls and business experience.

Again the headline sounds big, but it's 10 out of 538 electoral college members, so 1.8% of them who have signed the open letter, which means nothing. People need to move on and accept the democratic views of the people.

Does business experience translate to this 'job' though? I think not, but that's just my opinion

I imagine Obama wasn't daft enough to tie himself up in unnecessary meetings but this is different isn't it... he also mocked Obama for not attending intel briefings on twitter not that long ago - something he now plans to do himself without the experience. He's received just two intel briefings since the vote, unheard of. Aides have wanted daily briefings on global developments and security threats,.... but no, he's too smart for that. Surely it would get him up to speed on world events, needed by the Donald given his lack of diplomacy already. Mind you ... he was dismissive of these agencies during the run up, but now it's at his (and the US's cost) surely...

Even Dubya had daily briefings at this stage!
