Thanks for taking the time to type all that info, very interesting and appreciated.

Thanks for taking time to report, it was an interesting read.

I'm much too lazy and impatient to queue/wait for hours for anything. Glad that it was worth your time and effort.

Came via email but I also received a text to tell me to check my inbox. They started recording at 6.50pm. I had the impression it was strictly live.

Are you able to comment on the live audience's responses to the different dances/couples? Watching on TV the judges marks and comments felt out of kilter with what we saw, but I know that some things translate through the telly better than others.

Were the standing ovations spontaneous?”

The warm up guy and both Tess and Claudia stress how important the audience interaction is. I have to admit when I'm watching at home all the whooping and hollering gets on my nerves... however, watching live I was as loud as the next person. When Oti threw herself into Danny's arms I literally screamed and jumped to my feet. I was sitting exactly opposite and the distance was amazing.
The audience wasn't happy with the judges' comments... I know my friend and I were disappointed with Claudia's /AJ comments. We were all stamping our feet as well as standing ovation.
The standing ovations are not staged after the dances... for Sting we had to stand for the pre record.

It was amazing to watch the dancing and be so near. I didn't watch the VT but concentrated on watching each couple. Ore and Joanne actually practised a little with Jo even correcting frame with seconds to go.
At the results show, emotions were running high but the camaraderie between the couples seemed genuine with a group hug before the results were given.

Thanks. I am glad you got to watch a live show. I hope I get tickets next year.
If they are only emailing the tickets, people can register with any address??.

Echoing those who found it interesting that Claudia is allowed "free rein" at times. Suits her style! Was her crash mat part as hilarious live as it came through on screen?

Why you were sitting were you able to see the judges scrambling for their scoring paddles - or, in Bruno's case, just his "10" one!!!

Please, if you can, let us know which dance translated the best live. Also, is Oti (impossibly) even more stunning than she is on the screen???”

Couldn't see the judges properly. It's only a personal opinion and the rest of the audience may disagree but Both quick steps were good and didn't warrant comments and scores. Contrary to that Louise and .Kevin's dances were quite flat. My friend and I didn't stand for her when others did.

Oti.... really really petite... couldn't get over how tiny.

I wouldn't usually.... but if I ever get lucky again, I'd do the same. It was all part of the experience and we met some lovely people.

I used my usual email address and registered with BBC audiences. I get notifications several times a week and I decide which I want to apply for... usually depends on location, time and date... but Strictly was an exception. Worth travelling and taking the risk of getting in... not guaranteed.

Don't blame you. It's the semifinal and their dances were really below par.

I meant, next time I could create a few email accounts and register with some random post code and house number. I only registered once this time, thinking the tickets might be paper ones. I want to go and watch a live show.

Just read your post through AST.
I had no idea that all that was involved in being part of the audience.
I thought you just turned up late afternoon as if going to a show!!!!!!!!
Did you get that info with the tickets or are you just more savvy than me.
Great and interesting read, full of details.

Don't assume that will help you, I've been trying multiple email addresses and postcodes (e.g. mine and other family) for about 7 years and not been successful once.

Fantastic post. Really interesting! I'd love to go but unfortunately it sounds like hard work for someone like me with mobility problems.

Thanks for posting your review !

Fascinating and engrossing levels of detail there AST- thank you.

I'd love to know -but unfortunately it didn't happen at the semi final- if when Len hears booing at his criticisms that we can't hear at home, are the boos audible in the studio- or is he really just exaggerating for dramatic effect(/hallucinating)?

Fabulous detail

Were the interviews that Danny & Claudia had straight after their "lights turned red" edited much? And what's the atmosphere like in the audience during the wait?

So many questions! Sorry

But one thing you did answer for me already was how soon after the actual show is finished that the spoiler arrives and -from what you say here- this week it was just a matter of minutes. Fascinating stuff.

Blimey, queuing at 3am?!
Are VIP tickets easy to come by? I certainly could not deal with a queue at that time for six hours

Really? Can't imagine how tiny Claudia is then...

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed description of your evening at strictly.

It must have been amazing to see such wonderful talent live. Thanks too for letting us know the atmosphere when the results came out. Interesting that Tess reads from the autocue while Claudia ad libs, no surprise there.
