what a great first episode to start the new series
I have to disagree. A 30 minute lovefest for the Flying Moneypit. To watch the programme you'd be forgiven for thinking FS was the only working steam loco operating, when really there are quite a lot, none of which, or the volunteers working on them, get the attention the Moneypit gets.

I suspect most of those preserved lines would jump at the chance to have a visit by the "Flying Moneypits" as featured last week with the Severn Valley Railway because it gives them valuable publicity and revenue. Or are you suggesting the SVR was forced to host the "Flying Moneypits" by the NRM or someone else?

Other steam locomotives gets lots of attention, we had the Santa specials over Christman which brought out a lot of spectators and one special a few months earlier had spectators all the way along the route.

He'd hardly get the chance yesterday if he was doing London to Edinburgh non-stop! Plus, he only got as far as York!

I guess he could have alighted somewhere but I don't think the Flying Scotsman was doing more than one run which could have allowed him to resume the journey the next day.

There was a long time i.e. months between episodes 1 and 2

Episode 1 was filmed last February, episode 2 was much later in the year

Yeah I appreciate that, but episode one yesterday was billed as London to Edinburgh non-stop so it would be difficult to shoe-horn in an overnight stay. Besides he only got as far as York.

I see now he's essentially gone back to the start and is taking a more leisurely journey through the rest of the week and I'm sure he'll find an overnight stop mentioned in Bradshaws at some point.

I love this programme and have watched all the series so far. Im enjoying this one but not as much, it dosent seem as interesting and sometimes a bit rushed. To me its coming across as if the makers are running out of options to cover in depth. I suppose theres only so many journeys that can be made around the country with historical interest.

Down Your Way managed to keep doing a very similar thing (without the trains) for nearly thirty years.
