Such a lot of negativity. People have been moaning for the longest time, and yet when they finally attempt to do something, they continue to moan. .
Well Minnie...This IS Britain.
It's your national pastime.

Don't be daft, they've always fed him. They're going to oil his wheel.

Such a lot of negativity. People have been moaning for the longest time, and yet when they finally attempt to do something, they continue to moan. Seems they can't win. As another poster said, bring it on drag Ds into 2017 and have an uptodate and fun forum to use.
It's always the same whenever DS makes any kind of update. If DS members had anything to do with it, we would all still be watching B&W TV, and using snail mail and brick mobile phones.

The forum software before this one was the best... and I'm not just saying that.

It was identical to this:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=237

The expert programmers that made this forum software (named vBulletin 3.8) left the company and from what I've read, they employed a group of amateurs to take their place. The result was vBulletin 5 which Digital Spy is now using.

It has received comprehensive bad reviews everywhere (not just at DS).

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.vbulletin.com

But change for change's sake (which was the case here) is worthy of criticism.

To change the colour of the forum pages you have to use another website [it's called Stylish] here is a link for the website. >>http://bit.ly/1jstejU<<

Once your on this site type in "Digital Spy" into the search engine [top left of page] and when another page loads up you'll see the various colour skins you can choose from.

Hope this helps.

DS is not using VB5 now it's using a skinned version of VB3. I don't think the software has ever been upgraded.

I don't quite remember that old setup but having had a gander via your link at the old one I did like the look of it very much, I'm hoping we all like the new one when it comes. Haven't they said this new one is going to be on a completely different platform?, will that make it completely different to this current one, sorry I'm not 100% sure what they mean by "platform" to be honest.

What's your guess here James, is the new set-up likely to be vastly different to this current one?. [e.g. much better?]

I predict Vanilla Forums Cloud - so a totally different platform.

This is line with what has been announced featurewise including reactions, notifications and buried posts.

Would you be happy with that if it's that we end up with. [in other words how is it rated?]

I'm happy with any new platform, as long as it's not vBulletin - the version 5 is monstrous.

Re: Vanilla it depends how they skin it - out of the box the theme might upset the Apple cart here. However the software itself is meant to be very good.

I don't click bit.ly links. I searched for Stylish and found Userstyles.org, I assume that's the site your link goes to? If so then thanks, I'll check it out.

Edit: ok just installed. Still a bit much space on the sides but it looks a bit better IMO.

You're welcome.
I've been using bit.ly to shorten my links for years to probably thousands of people on email and forums and your the first ever to give a feedback that you don't like using it.

I don't really see why Userstyles.org needed shortening but there we are

Anyway I've still got a fair bit of space on the sides, I suppose zooming in would solve that but then the text would be huge.

Hi DS Mods I recently posted a request on the "Contact Digital Spy" forum and I can't seem to find it anymore? My account was accepted but I have no idea if I am allowed to take part in the DS world?

Grateful for any help as I don't want to take advantage.

Try add-ons such as No-Squint Plus and Zoom Page for different Page and Text zoom levels.

(These suit me in Firefox. Not sure which other browsers support them, or similar, just now)

Yes that's a very good point I should have mentioned before I use Google Chrome and Stylish probably only works in that.
