Yep, I agree I don't alert. Unless it was something illegal, that would be about the only reason i'd alert. Just like how I am in real life basically.

It all sounds ok to me. Glad search will work, hopefully put paid to the duplicate threads to a degree.
No real issues with the like/dislike.
I think the amnesty is a mistake though.

I find moderators awful on so many forums. I've watched disputes and bannings. I've also seen so many forums where they don't find the heart of the matter. They remove posts or ban people because or to end the incident. This applies to the majority of forums.

Rather than go after the offender(s) I've seen so many ban some members not perma banned just to kill off the incident like as if everyone is guilty for taking part in the discussion rather than going directly after the offender. Big brush incident.

Or the inconsistency in moderation I've seen on so many forums where bad posts remained while others were removed. Everything in life seems to be knee-jerk reactions nowadays rather than looking and hunting down what the trouble was. Don't care what or how it happened just kill it!

Some forums have even been so bad they banned some members for asking why the other members had been banned. Some were even big contributing members.

In general I agree but there was one time a few years ago when I used the alert button. The fórum was quiet, I couldn't sleep and I happened to see a new poster come on and make allegations about a named actor, saying he'd raped her and she was now pregnant. She said she was always waiting at the studio gates (soap opera) but he was avoiding her. It was a libellous post so I alerted.

The Mods would have caught it but I ike DS so made sure they got to it fast and they did.

I know one , just told my wee bro and hes not interested at all, "**** them I have moved on" and he is pissed of at the frivolous reason for his ban on a BB Forum.

I wonder how many more are like him?

i think she was taken seriously at times and it did take a couple of threads to tune in when she first emerged.

I wish Trip Advisor would have an amnesty on bans.

Embedded links can hugely clutter a forum esp when ppl quote the embedded pics or vids and you get these massive posts.

Maybe it will look a bit like Datalounge but with named posters.

I agree. There was a thread on the soaps forum from a pbu about one of the other fms and it was hilariously abusive

It gave me a great laugh while it lasted.

There was also a troll who started threads where the titles were fms names including myself and it was also hilarious

I don't think the mods understand context in a lot of cases. Why someone has bee driven to say something they shouldn't probably by being baited, but they don't see or understand the bating bit so just ban the wrong person all to regularly. Some boards are very quiet because many have been banned, driven away or given up because the mods will not deal with the real underlying issue and continually take the easy way out.

Although we have both managed to hang onto active accounts here for some 16 years so it can be done.

I'm not a big fan of xeonfro or whatever its called.

Locking for 72 hours is ridiculous. They can move over all the current threads and users and test it in an hour. Then in the background they could migrate all the old threads for a few days.
