I didn't keep up with this series and just watched the final moment again on Youtube so wondering if this has been answered already:

After Matt won Simon said both finalists did really well but then said "But Matt, this is your night. This [The Winners Single] is an important record.. you know why" and then he nodded at him and Matt nodded back and mouthed 'I know'. Why is it such an important record for Matt for?

Or maybe just because it's the winners single which didn't do so hot a year ago
