Lauren harries, James Jordan, Katie Hopkins , jasmine leonard, jedward etc

They seem way out of line with what the public would consider gold stars

What do you consider gold star celebs and do you think any of them would appear on BB?

I swear Jasmine Lennard is the worst rumour I have heard, stop trying to make Jasmine happen! At least the others were finalists, so you could argue that they deserve to go back. But yeah I agree OP, the producers could do so much better!

It's funny but we always get the top American celeb names, and yet home grown talent is just nothing but barrel scraping.

The last American housemate I'd heard of beforehand (and only in passing) was Perez Hilton I think. Blimey to think we had the likes of LaToya Jackson and Jackie Stallone back in the day!*

Agree totally about the barrel scraping here though. When Katie Hopkins and Lauren Harries look amongst the 'star signings' with Bear not far behind you have to despair at our country I feel

* I may have seen Jenna Jameson in a movie

To be honest it's not an overtly awful selection. Lauren was the breakout star of the mediocre C12, James wasnt the nicest guy but served his purpose as a series long villain who got his comeuppance in the end and Hopkins (rightly or wrongly) dominated C15 with Perez, although I do think the two needed each other to feed off.

Jasmine is a waste of a slot as she was such an early boot and Jedward offer zero depth or development.

I bet it's down to cash, The Americans most probably see it as breaking a new territory and new audience for them, so they don't get paid as much as we expect.

The bigger names have seen careers wrecked by CBB as opposed to I'm a Celeb.
So they stay clear of the show these days.
The producers don't care who they chuck under the bus if the ratings are slow, The Biggins episode is a case in point, He wasn't so controversial but the show was flagging so they caused much more of an outrage by evicting him - (The winner of I'm a Celeb) And promoting Bear and not challenging his actions as heavily.

2 people whose fame was dependent on their family connections.

Exactly. Is Jackie Stallone supposed to be some sort of big name?

And LaToya Jackson isn't even "the other Jackson". She's like the "other other isn't her sister?"

In any case, I thought they were only supposed to be "gold" in BB terms, rather than the biggest stars,

They aren't trying to "make Jasmine happen" (whatever that means); they just think she makes good tv. And I agree. I was going to give this CBB a miss, but not if Jasmine's in it.

What does being an "early boot" have to do with it? When Jasmine came back in bb16, they extended her stay.

Gold CBB star would be someone like John McCririck, Jim Davidson or the late Pete Burns.

The ones OP mentioned were all pretty decent at least in terms of the entertainment they offered, who would OP suggest otherwise? I'm half interested in seeing how jedward have grown up. It's the likes of Colleen, Austin and Callum Best which concern me - none of these brought anything to the table and have zero business in an all-stars series of any sort.

Can only think the budget is too small to attract some of the more memorable ones. At least ultimate bb managed to bring together the most prominent civilian housemates. Some of the rumoured names here are waste disposal.

That rules him out then.

I'd rather have Jack Dee and Julian Clary back again, even Vanessa Feltz.

I'd like to see Daniel Baldwin given another shot - I thought he had potential but was evicted early.

The Americans may be classed as lower in their country, its just our market is much smaller and less quality.

I don't think we can just stick with winners, some great characters haven't won I.e. spidey etc
