Apologies for the delay in getting this up!!

Welcome to the 9th (Lets hope DS doesn't close down before we make the 10th!) edition of the PDC World Championship Prediction League!

MVG goes in as the hottest pre tournament favourite I'd imagine since the pre Barney Taylor PDC era. Almost impossible to think he's not going to lift the trophy January 2nd but the set format has caught him out before can Ando, Wright or the old master Taylor have a chance of beating him?

But more importantly can anyone topple 3 time champion TC in this event

Roll of honour
2009: Faxy Fowler
2010: Terrence Chant
2011: Terrence Chant
2012: Eastlands
2013: dean michael
2014: EPY
2015: Chris MacL
2016: Terrence Chant

The tournament runs from Thursday December 15th till Monday January the 2nd this year.

The PDC haven't changed the format once again so neither am I, same as usual rules as follows.

Round 1 is reduced to predicting just 24 ties as the ones involving the preliminary round winners are to difficult for people to predict on as the prelim match occurs on the same day.

Scoring will be as follows:

First Round (Best of 5 Sets): 1 point correct result, 3 correct score
Second Round (Best of 7 Sets): 2 points correct result, 5 correct score
Third Round (Best of 7 Sets): 2 points correct result, 5 points correct score
Quarter Finals (Best of 9 Sets): 3 points correct result, 7 points correct score
Semi Finals (Best of 11 Sets): 4 points correct result, 9 points correct score
Final (Best of 13 Sets): 5 points correct result, 11 correct score

On top of the usual scoring there will be some bonus points on offer.

Round specific bonus points

Ned's Nap: The return of Ned's Nap Double points available on the 1 match each round I feel is the most competitive.

Highest 3 Dart average/Checkout/Number of 180's: 5 points on offer for choosing the player with the highest 3 dart average, checkout or number of maximums depending on my choice each round.

Tournament bonus points

These must be predicted before 7:10pm on Thursday December 15th

Semi Finalists: Pick the 4 players who will come through in each quarter of the draw. 5 points available for each.

The 'Kirk Shepherd' title: Named in honour of the 2008 finalist name the player who you think will be the last NON SEED in the Tournament, 5 points once again for this. If 2 or more players go the same distance then 5 points for everyone who predicts those players.

Hi all! I'm going to have a bit of a think about what to do, I had 13 entries total including people who pm'd me while it was down.

Starting from round 2 sounds preferable (I'll do the round 1 table for fun) but need to work out how to do the tournament bonus rounds as the Kirk award will be a heck of a lot easier to pick after round 1!!

If I may shove in my two'penneth. The only fair way is to start from round 2 as you say. I would do away with the bonus rounds like Kirk award but you could keep semi finalists I guess. Not your fault just the timing

I've got an idea on the tournament bonus's now

The restart of the PDC World Championship Prediction league will begin after Monday nights games by which point most of the 23rd of December second round ties will be decided. It's off then till the 27th so plenty of time to do the others.

Right lets try this again shall we!

Thanks to the forum downtime happening at precisely the worst possible time last week I decided to scrap the round 1 predictions (I will do the table just for fun) to give everyone the best chance to enter the comp.

So we are starting from 0 from round 2 and everyone is welcome to enter

Round scoring and bonuses are the same as before but I've had a tweak of the tournament bonuses.

Round Scoring:

These must be predicted before 1pm on Friday December 23rd

Semi Finalists: Pick the 4 players who will come through in each quarter of the draw. 5 points available for each.

The 'Andy Hamilton' title: Kirks having a year off!! Now named in honour of the 2012 finalist the Hammer (number 17 seed that year) name the player who you think will be the last player outside the top 16 seeding in the Tournament (this can be a player seeded 17-32 or totally unseeded), 5 points once again for this. If 2 or more players go the same distance then 5 points for everyone who predicts those players.

Due to the way the second round is split across the Christmas break I'm going to split the predictions into 2 halves. Friday 23rd December games first then the rest after the First round games are completed on the 22nd.

You can predict the either/or options on the Whitlock game if you want.

Second Round (best of 7 sets)

Ian White (14) v Jonny Clayton
Michael Smith (11) v Mervyn King
Benito van de Pas (15) v Terry Jenkins
Darren Webster v Whitlock (17)/Koltsov/Horvat
Gary Anderson (2) v Andrew Gilding
A Lewis (5) v Cullen (28)

In this round predict who will have the Highest 3 Dart Average

I'll choose the Nap game after the first round is completed.

Finally!

For the tournament bonuses if your prediction for either semi or Hamilton bonus goes out in round 1 you're allowed to pick again before the 1pm Friday 23rd deadline.

For reference picking the tournament bonuses here is the current state of the draw. I've removed the seeding from anyone bar the top 16 to make the Hamilton pick easier.

Quarter 1
Michael van Gerwen (1) V Cristo Reyes
Darren Webster V Simon Whitlock/Boris Koltsov/Dragutin Horvat
Mensur Suljovic (8)/Ron Meulenkamp V Mark Webster
Robert Thornton (9)/Zoran Lerchbacher/Simon Stevenson V Daryl Gurney

Quarter 2
Adrian Lewis (5) V Joe Cullen
Raymond van Barneveld (12)/Robbie Green V Alan Norris
Phil Taylor (4) V Kevin Painter
Kim Huybrechts (13)/James Wilson V Vincent van der Voort/Max Hopp

Quarter 3
Gary Anderson (2) V Andrew Gilding
Benito van de Pas (15) V Terry Jenkins
Dave Chisnall (7)/Rowby-John Rodriguez V Chris Dobey
Jelle Klaasen (10)/Jeffrey de Graaf V Brendan Dolan/Christian Kist

Quarter 4
James Wade (6)/Ronny Huybrechts V Steve Beaton
Michael Smith (11) V Mervyn King
Peter Wright (3) V Jamie Lewis
Ian White (14) V Jonny Clayton
