Was wondering whether you guys think Strictly partnerships keep in touch after the show has ended? Which partnerships this year do you see keeping in touch?

It seems like the couples grow really close during the show and many are often in tears after leaving and not dancing again with their partner. Some partnerships seem to just really gel and I wonder if many stay in contact after the show, apart from all the romances of course!

I've not been watching the show for years and years but recall Janette saying that she's still in touch with Jake and Peter for example. I think Pixie and Trent worked together after Strictly as well.

I find the dynamic of the whole thing really interesting. I mean the couples haven't met before but spend hours and hours together for months on end, winning and losing together so it must create a really interesting dynamic.

I wonder how it translates to the 'outside world'?

Kevin and Karen are still pretty close with their ex partners on the show, and I think Janette is still in contact with Julian too. Anton and Judy are still friends...in fact Judy seems to be pretty close to a lot of Strictly people. Robin and Deborah are still pretty good friends as well, I think.

I think there must be quite a few relationships that are purely business and probably fade out after the show ends, but I'm sure many result in genuine friendships that we perhaps just don't really hear that much about.

probably a lot of them do, ones I know of are Janette and Jake, Kevin most of his - he and karen still go for meals with Frankie and Wayne,
Karen and Dave - her and Kevin have stayed in touch with Dave and seem to meet up
Jo seems friendly with her three previous partners Harry and Scott at SCD on Saturday
Pixie and Trent
Aljaz and Abbey
Flavia and Russell

but there are probably loads more

I do feel it depends on how well they get on with each other during the rehearsals for the show and if they can sustain a friendship

Kevin is still in touch with Frankie, she went out to dinner with him, her husband and his wife, Karen recently and even met his current partner, Louise as well. Frankie also appeared in the audience on one of the Strictly live shows this year.

Pixie did work with Trent as guest dancers on the Irving Berling tribute show, Puttin' on the Ritz. She still keeps in touch and Trent went to see her when she was playing Holly Golightly in Breakfast with Tiffany's with his wife, Gordana twice.

Karen and Jeremy still keep in touch. They bonded very quickly and Jeremy really did have lot of time and patience for Karen and truly appreciated how seriously she took her dancing that her previous partners failed to grasp. When reading the Strictly tour programme which I went to earlier this year, Karen had said that Jeremy had been her favourite dance partner to date (2015).

Janette seems to have been invited to London fashion week by Julian every year since they danced together, and she's mentioned that she also keeps in touch with Jake and Peter. I remember Frankie Bridge and Susanna Reid went to Kevin & Karen's wedding, and Kevin & Karen went to Mark Wright's wedding.

There are also a fair few celebrities who seem to keep in touch with a lot of people - Lisa Riley, Russell Grant (who tweeted to congratulate Jo at the weekend), for example.

Of course there are also the partnerships that become partnerships beyond the show as well - Jimi & Flavia are married, Pasha & Rachel are in a relationship, etc.

I think they did a lot of staying in touch.

That's surprising about Abbey and Alijaz. I didn't get the impression they were anything other than colleagues and wouldn't have bet on them staying friends after the show.

Also think it's interesting that for all the stick Kevin, Karen and even Janette get on here sometimes they seem to be the pros who get on best with their partners and form lovely friendships outside the show.

Jay and Aliona have just finished dancing together last month in the show ' Keep Dancing '. They are still in touch regularly. Now he's playing Tom Hank's role of Josh in the musical Big - currently in Dublin, and Aliona's been over to see him in it.

Yes, I'm surprised too, I saw an interview with Abbey where she said they'd lost touch because they were so busy.

Flavia and Jimi are married now, Pasha and Rachel are still a couple and Kristina and Ben (although rather controversially at the time) are now together and have a baby.

If what the backstage person said on here about how Abbey behaved with Aljaz was true, I'd be amazed if he wanted to keep in touch with her, or that Janette would allow it.

That's a shame but not surprising to hear. I guess it's difficult to keep in touch once everyone returns to the non-strictly world and what couples had in common e.g dancing is now gone.

I really liked them as a partnership though!

Indeed. Just goes to show how things aren't all sweetness and light backstage as the show would have us believe.

Kevin and Karen have stayed in touch with almost all of their partners, I think. They were invited to Mark and Michelle's wedding. Jeremy seems to adore Karen to bits.

I was surprised recently when Matthew Cutler said on ITT that Christine had been his favourite partner as Alyesha had been too intense ( I think he said). I thought him and Alyesha were great friends and went clubbing together during the series and just after.

Yes, I was surprised too although I remember seeing a photo of him on a yacht one summer with Christine and one of the pros from Dancing on Ice (can't remember his name, Matt perhaps?). Looked like they were all having a great time.

Interesting to see the Clifton's who get so much stick on here are the ones who's names keep cropping up as staying in touch with their partners.
