I always saw him as cocky, thinking he was a better dancer than everyone else, shrinking violet my eye.

Imagine if he wins! They'll have to get the Fire Brigade in.

A confident person can't also be emotional? I think particularly the fact that the man cries for joy, or excess of feeling, is revealing and doesn't seem to me contradictory with his poise or the sort of physical charisma he has.

Can I just check that everyone posting has actually served some years on this planet as a living, breathing human being, surrounded by other human beings, with a circle of friends, and experience of human nature in a few of its varieties?

Confident talking to camera? Yes, it's his job, cocky, don't see it. He also worked on kids tv so is inclined to hamming it up but I do think he is genuine and loves the process.

And if ever there is a time to cry it would be getting through to a final having believed you had little chance which let's face it he must have felt being in the DO the week before.

Some people cry. Oti cried, Nat cried, Danny looked to cry.

But I guess only Ore, Jo and Kevin were pretending?

Agree with this 100%. Well said.

I got used to it very early on, and so do celebs - whether they are on TV, on a show sofa or just in front of the general public. Real nerves I can spot a mile away - possibly through having to teach others to dance or helping my clients face the media - but the fake nerves? Nah. I know it when I see it. My job is to make it go away and help them shine.”

Yes it's true enough. I never hankered for the roar of the grease paint or the smell of the crowd!. I remember being in a salsa workshop some years ago with a star teacher - cross body ladies styling - New York flicks and hair combs - you know the kind of thing. This teacher said "It's not about how it makes you feel, all that matters is how it looks. I couldn't have disagreed with her more. I dance because of how it makes me feel. I shudder to think about how it might look.

But yes I do enjoy teaching but that comes from somewhere else altogether. I love working out how people tick and figuring out how to "unlock" the path to learnign that makes sense to them. So when a penny drops I get such satisfaction from that.

And it is a pretty hammy show let's be honest. Partly I am sure because it is trying to be a kids show and one for grown ups at the same time.

I'm withholding my judgement on the crying. I'm pretty sure that Ore isn't a cold cynical psychopath deliberately manipulating his audience to get what he wants. I'm also not sure it's totally without manipulation intent.
So I'm ignoring it and trying not to be influenced by it. But I just wish he wouldn't do it.

So is John Inverdale. Do you remember him crying when he interviewed the silver medal winners during the 2012 Olympics? I do.

It was so funny on Sunday night, when the two 'saved' couples were on the sofa ( Kevin, Louise, Ori, and Joanne )

It was like Strictly come Weeping, as they ruthlessly competed to see who could be the most emotional, ingratiating, and 'humble'

The level of insincerity was off the scale !”

.

Ok, please show me what you think sincerity looks like.
Very curious to see.

I am still struggling to work out what the facial expression "smitten" looks like.

*shudders* What an awful way to describe dance Can understand your horror Throp.

If I couldn't feel, or make that emotional connection, really hear the music and give myself up to it, I couldn't dance Argentine Tango.

I would also have been lacking musicality and feeling in ballet and I would never have managed flamenco at all!

I never felt the lure of the greasepaint either. It found me. I was incredibly shy.

i don't think the emotion was fake, although i agree its slightly odd as he doesn't seem to have m/any actual tears - but his voice had that sob quality that is very hard to fake effectively.

For what it's worth, I think Ore!s emotion is completely genuine.

It can be touching to see a man shed a quiet tear when he is moved or distressed, but as a relative oldie, I don't find it attractive to watch a man continually blabbing in public. Nothing wrong with it, just a personal preference
