In this programme:

At about 0:21 into my recording, there is some footage of a Pebble Mill At One Christmas edition where a 'Merry Christmas To All Our Viewers' sign at the top of the studio bursts into flames on camera.

Does anyone know the story behind this?

Wonder why they didn't move the children from under it

That is a nightmare.
A sudden large fire in a studio full of young children.
It is amazing that nobody died - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xuxa_Park_fire

And of course you had the Blue Peter Christmas Special, when you had a load of Brownies, all stood around a fire, when it errupted.

Health and Safety didnt mean so much in those days
