Interesting that Saara was at the top of the vote part 1 of the final. I wonder what happened?

It's fair to say 5 After Midnight's voters switched to Matt after they were voted out. Considering the audience demographic that was more likely to happen than them switching to Saara. I can't help but think that's not entirely responsible for him going from trailing by 2% to leading by 8% in one night. I'm not complaining though - I'm glad he won, much as I had hoped Saara would clinch it.

As I said in another thread, Saara just never had enough support to win. Even in the two weeks she topped the vote by being truly outstanding, it was by the tiniest of margins which is just wrong

Ever since they've had free votes, the margin of wins has been smaller than it used to be. Understandable as there are five free votes available. Long gone are the days where an act would top the vote with double the amount of votes of the act in second place (final aside). Although Matt was close to doing that in week 1.

Some of the semi final ones over the years really grind my gears.

When those acts that come 3rd go out instead of the person 4th cause of an unfair sing off.

Your 2015 Final Part 2 is wrong - it shows Alexandra and JLS rather the Louisa & R&B

Some of the most disgraceful vote leaks over the years have got to be when Aiden didn't top with Mad World, or Jamie not topping with Hurt.

Thank you for doing this, lots to look at!

Fascinating that in 2008 the first show - which must in those days have got more than ten million viewers - the top five were eoghan,Scott, Laura, Diana and Daniel, all outperforming JLS , Alexandra and Ruth. Crazy.

And in Week 3 when Alex delivered her showstopping "Candyman" performance, she still finished in the bottom half of the vote (6th out of 10)

I still find Eoghan Quigg and Chris Maloney topping the vote every week utterly baffling.

Also interesting to see Danyl Johnson's huge lead in Week 1 be completely wiped out by singing that Whitney Houston classic "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" in Week 2- tumbling to 6% and 7th place.

Week 6 2009

Stacey topped the vote by quite a big lead - Olly just missed the bottom two

Week 7 Olly was bottom full stop

But I guess after the Lucy debacle it would have been too much to saveJedward again

Week 8 2008

Alex had 24.53% and JLS 24.34% - close or what

The lowest Joe ever came was 4th from top - he was never in the bottom half of the votes

Thank you. For your hard work.

Would love to have all the statistics for each season if possible on one chart/image.

I have just relived the percentages for 2011. I cannot believe Christopher was winning for SO long.Cowell and co must have been horrified. He is cabaret at best, his oversinging was so annoying. He would have made an awful winner! I cannot believe he outvoted James Arthur, Ella Henderson, Union J, Jahmene Douglas, Lucy Spraggan and even Rylan on a regular basis. Beyond horrifing.

I think that might have made it a bit clustered IMO. That was 2012, and for all of Christopher's faults I wouldn't describe 'oversinging' as one of them, to be perfectly honest. I can sort of see why he was so popular but clearly those voters had no interest in him beyond the show. The same applies to most acts though, to be fair, but that's not their fault normally.

Does anyone have any of the percentages from the earlier series?

There are some supposedly leaked ones on this forum if you do a search but I don't think they're genuine. One of them have Leon topping week 1 in his year by quite some distance, which, even factoring in a sympathy vote after his car-crash performance, I find hard to believe. Another had Leona topping the vote the week she performed "Summertime" with 51.14%, which although I think the performance would have gone down well with viewers, I don't think she'd have won by that much. The same results have The MacDonald Brothers topping week 1 by quite a margin too.

The ones we do know is that Shayne won by a margin of 1.2%, so that'd have been 50.6% vs 49.4% for Andy. Leon won by 'more than 10%', so it was more than 55%. Leona won with about 60% apparently.
