He sounds like a trapped boy.

That was probably the weirdest Royal Variety Show I have ever seen.

Family Guy already went there...and it was briefly funny.

I mean if depictions of Jesus are interchangeable then I don't see why Santa can't be black.
If he can be black then he can be Muslim woman.

What a shambles that all was could of done without Barry Gib at the end screaming in pain to be put out his misery. To be honest I thought he was dead ,was a shock to see him lol

That sort of whacks the notion of Father Christmas on two fronts.

Well a pedant would say Santa should be wearing a green cloak.
Another pedant would point out that Father Christmas wore a green cloak.

Seldom have I actually watched such rubbish and this is one of the few times I've felt sorry for Charles and Camilla - fancy having to sit and squirm through all that.

Truthfully it was so bad that it compelled you to watch but instead of improving as the show went on it just got worse and worse. The finale of Mr Gibb's painful rendition was enough to send our cats running outside and I think that both my wife and I let out deep sighs of pleasure when we could freely change channels.

I know you can ask why I bothered to watch but there's something inside me that just hopes that the show will revive it's days of long ago - but it wasn't to be.

I'm itching to know what the viewing figures will be. Pity that the figures won't show the length of time that people stayed tuned - how many people actually watched all through.
Next year it'll definitely be Eastenders and Holby for us - the Show simply shouldn't go on.

Another pedant would say he should be Greek or maybe Dutch. That wouldn't bother anyone, would it?

Flagging careers , better artists don't have to appear on this shite, it would tarnish their reputation, so all the poor acts will appear nothing to loose only the viewer

I am surprised to say but Robbie Williams was the best singer on. The rest were very poor, or their mics weren't working properly. The drums were too loud on most occasions.

I enjoyed Cake by the Ocean!

It's funny (no pun intended) how once you've 'made it' in the world of showbiz/celebrity to whatever extent, you seem to have licence to be ... emmm ... sh1t. Take the 'comedy' acts on tonight. Hand on heart, if you were at a comedy gig at your local pub/club and someone came on and did those routines, how much would you actually laugh? I know they have to tone their acts down due to the type of show, however a truly good comedian could still be funny.

And yeah it is funny (again no pun intended) how things and tastes change. As others have hinted at, the Royal Variety Show used to be a highlight watch of the year ... now it's basically sh1t.

No wonder Charles was flicking through the programme, probably looking to see what other acts he had to endure before getting the fcuk out of there!

(This is a bit like I'm Spartacus..... but not )

Anyway, he did wear a a little green number until Coca Cola came along and changed everything!

Just read on the DS main site that using a Chinese kid as "Michael McIntyre" has caused a bit of trouble. Get a grip! He often jokes about himself looking Chinese.

People moaning about a black Santa, seriously? In the Kenan and Kel Xmas special Kenan dressed as Santa, and that was 20 years ago (Now I feel old), no one complained then, I fail to see why people would complain now.

I've finally got round to watching this - flipping 3 weeks later! Well it wasn't the best RVP but it wasn't as bad as some on here make it out to be. I have agree though Barry Gibb's show of his falsetto was somewhat strange sounding. Perhaps it was more acceptable back in his day.

I've always thought Walliams talent has waned a bit since his Little Britain days and had become more of an irritant on BGT, but you know he wasn't too bad on this show and as the host.

I did like the ending of the Army magician's trick although it was a bit too long for me, and Amber Riley (someone here thought she could not sing???? She was very loud at times but the girl can sing!). I was pleasantly surprised by the voice of the guy from Busted or McFly singing in his song about his children's book.
The worst bit for was Alan Davies unfortunately, he just wasn't that funny IMO.

They need fewer acts and more time for each act.

We live in a world in which Adele is considered a singer of note. Nothing should surprise you any more!
