You really should have stayed put & not left your home.
He also, would have had to leave the place at some point, to go to work/shopping whatever, giving you the chance to change the locks & call police/seek an injunction against him, if he created trouble when he returned & found he was unable to get in.
My friend went to his property one day & found squatters in there. He was greeted by a voice through the letterbox saying they were now living there, when he couldn't get his key to open the door.
He immediately lost his temper & kicked the front door to gain entry. They soon left.
Is there any way you would be able to get entry by arranging to meet on the pretence of talking things through? That you still love him
Its a very difficult situation as you cant be expected to keep anyone, if they move into your property, but if they can prove that they gave you money (such as through bank statements) they could then say that, that money was towards the mortgage payments.
When people get together, they rarely think & don't draw up anything legal which would protect their property if things turned sour.
Maybe/hopefully you could prove that the money he gave you was far less than if he had rented anywhere himself, or was just for food, utility bills only? That he moved into your property to save the rent he was paying before?
Do you have another property? Could you not claim from him otherwise for any rent you would have to pay elsewhere while he is occupying your home?
Please seek legal advise & keep us updated
It would be cheaper to stay single, or rent out your property & move in with someone else, or even to rent/buy somewhere else with them, but keep your original property going. If you had owned your property jointly with a brother/sister or relative he wouldn't have any claim on it. I wonder if you could change the deeds? Then he would have to leave
