After forcing myself to watch this and unsure on it at the beginning I actually enjoyed this in the end. Netflix originals are always a treat, all the cast were great but really enjoyed Phyllis Smith in a serious role she was great as BBA. Hopefully, this will get a second season and we can get some answers because I'm feeling kinda cheated right now...

Having slept on it and had a look at some of the explanation theories on the internet (some are very whacky such as The OA and Stranger Things being different parts of the same story), I don't feel cheated at all. I'm not the kind of person who expects every aspect of a plot to be explained to me. I actually like things left open for interpretation.
. I do feel more disappointed on how the last 15 minutes went, I think they could have used different ways of keeping it open...

I will have to find these theories but I also agree with you, If everything had been wrapped up it would have left me cheated too

That was different!
I thought it was extremely good. A slow burn and I would understand if it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. Thought provoking. Lots of thematic threads running through it. Beautifully shot. Simple in style, like a children's story being told, in contrast to the dark subject matter and complexity of the issues. Fantastic ending. For me, I would draw a comparison with 'The Leftovers' in that while it stands on its own - even with the similar unanswered questions and ambiguity - I would love another series. |

i thought it was excellent and really enjoyed the twist!? at the end. In some ways it would be a shame to have a second series.

Spoilers ahead.
I watched it all... but the sheer suspension of disbelief required was too much. The group believed her story far too readily. None of the characters exhibited cynicism or disbelief, they just turned up every night and sat there lapping it up. That was bad enough. Then we were asked to believe that sucking the gas from the cubicles was possible. And then the 'movements'. Oh god. I actually laughed out loud when they were performed for the first time. You've got to be kidding me, I thought. But then in one of the final scenes they get up and start dancing in front of the school shooter. Could you just stop shooting for a minute while we perform some interpretive dance? Thank you ever so much. It was like something from a Brass Eye sketch. I laughed at the sheer absurdity of it. If there's a season 2 I hope the writers work a little harder to maintain believability. |

Amongst all the crazyness the thing I found most unrealistic is the ease in which Homer picked up the guitar playing woman.

If there's a season 2 I hope the writers work a little harder to maintain believability. The other 'dancers' were all vulnerable people who might have been easily manipulated by a charismatic person who had regained their sight. The shooter might, just might have been caught off guard enough by the dancing to be taken down. A long shot (not pun intended) I know. I'm not keen on 'Emperor's New Clothes' type shows, that pretend to be all metaphysical and believe that leaving things up to the viewers is some how profound. Too many shows are doing this now and IMO it is a cop out. But I did like the 'mine' story and would probably have volunteered to do it myself especially with the gas. |

I really didn't understand the point of the whole Cuban interlude.

I guess it was to highlight that Hap was continually searching for people to study. Although why he thought using Homer would be the best way to get her who knows, conveniently to the plot his plan worked.
It also showed how Hap or the 'real' kidnapper used his captives to trap other captives. Don't forget there are two alternatives to what really happened, so it might not have even happened in Cuba. I did wonder if the Sheriff was ever missed. |

He had tried to get her by himself and she turned him down, so he used a younger man who he knew she might like as she liked young men.

Watched over three days, a couple of episodes surprisingly short.
We enjoyed it a lot. We both preferred it to Stranger Things. On a technical note, this was the first programme we have watched in Dolby Vision on our new TV and very immersive it was, too. |
