After having loads of issues with mini boxes losing connectivity, connecting just the main silver Q box with Ethernet and leaving the others wireless have seemed to sorted out all the connectivity issues. Hope this helps someone?

Q box connected to the router over Ethernet you mean.
I've done this loads as it's reduced the distance travelled by the wifi signals by quite a bit.

I had the same issue, sky installed everything via wireless and 5 minutes after they left both my boxes where not working. I re-setup my silver box via ethernet and left the mini to use wifi and everything has been perfect since.

I had issues with the mini box dropping the connection despite two booster. As there was already a hole in the wall where the old satalite cable was I rummaged around in the shed a found a suitable Ethernet cable and wired it in. There was a switch next to the main box so did the same with that. It hasn't missed a beat since. All was going swimmingly then I ordered a second mini box. Thought it would come in the post but no an engineer has to come out. Now I know the engineer that fitted original install lives local so I knew it be him that brought it. At the time off the original install he told me it HAD to be wireless so I knew this was going to be entertaining. Sure enough look of horror on his face when he gets his app out and can't see a mesh network despite me telling him it was wired in about six hours after he left the first time. Needless to say an agrgument happened with him insisting the whole thing had to be reset to wireless despite it obviously working despite what his IPad app said. Got to the point where I told him if he presses the reset button he takes the lot out as wireless in a brick house is not fit for purpose. In the end I had to set the new box up as he hadn't got a clue about a wired connection. Needless to say all three boxes are working perfectly with no issues. Why they don't train the engineers basic networking and insist on a wireless connection is beyond me.

I think that there is a lot of variation on what you get from the installer. For me, mini box 1 is in the next room and is connected wirelessly to the silver box. Mini box 2 is a fair way from the silver so the installer linked it to mini box 1 wirelessly rather than to the silver. Not heard of this before. Had it a month and no issues. My broadband is with Plus Net by the way (not Sky).
