Anybody watching this on E4? There's already a US pace thread, so no spoilers here please.

I loved the first episode, especially the ending. I'm a bit hesitant to get into until we know if it'll get a second series. Hopefully it does because it's well written and interesting.

Yes! I thought it was good too, so I'll be following.

It felt 'related' to Time Tunnel, Quantum Leap, Back to the Future, and some Dr Who and Star Trek eps. I suppose lots of SF is time travel stories where someone goes back and tries to 'fix' something which 'shouldn't have happened' without causing more trouble to their present-day selves.

Still good so far though.

(Aside: I never understand comments like "I'm a bit hesitant to get into until we know if it'll get a second series. " WHY? Makes no sense to me. )

Because if it gets cancelled after one series, I feel like I wasted my time. It's really disappointing when a new show isn't given the time to gain an audience.

Watched the first episode, bit meh until the little twist with the book, at which point I wondered if it wasn't going to be a little similar to a certain Star Trek: Voyager episode where
Spoiler

I'll see how I go with it.

This definitely has some promise - a decent first episode, and it does look like they will be going for some decent 'rules' about not stepping on bugs, not bumping into yourself, not playing in the band at your parents' prom etc

Also being able to remember your original (and now 'wrong') history - if this timeline still has her as a history prof then she's going to get fired for not knowing it all so that's another 'inevitability' out of the way!

I also like the clunky prototype rustbucket they are using, it does all the right stuff

And the bit about getting the call 'we need you to un-break history again' does have a Seven Days feel to it which works too.

I enjoyed the first episode and will continue to watch it, but I can see why it is considered not long for this world.

As a history prof she presumably owns plenty of textbooks and has access to plenty more which would now detail the changed history so she'd just have to read them to catch up

Already been extended from 6 to 12 eps so that's your show of faith right there.

We've seen it all before - Timecop, Sliders, Time Tunnel etc. Ending was good and the production values decent but it doesn't look set to redefine the genre. 12 Monkeys is still the one to beat.

Apparently Abe Lincoln and The Alamo are coming up.....Groan.

Because obviously someone trying to radically alter history would choose a meeting of the Baton Rouge Tiddleywinks Society in 1935 to make their move! This is the first time travel series since Time Tunnel to deal with major historical events so I'm not sure what you've got your cliche indicators on for. Anyway you disqualify yourself from comment by suggesting that Sliders had anything to do with time travel!!!

I've watched the series at US Pace and I find it gets much better if you stick with it.

It's not meant to be factually accurate, its just an entertainment show. Lots of people are already moaning online about the format.

It's of that ilk but apparently that was a bit hard for you to grasp.

'Buggering up the timeline' is such a popular trope these days, but it hooks me every time (the writers can play fast and loose with their plots!) - this looks promising? (Warning to time travellers - don't do a Flash & break every time-rule in the book, it gives your viewers headaches, lol...)

It's interesting you say that as there's an article on DS about how the writers made the decision to be really strict about the time-travel rules on the show. Even to the point of having to reject some ideas because they would go against previously established concepts on the show. I like the sound of that

Whilst that's a positive sign I can still understand the OP's comment in that, for example, if it doesn't get a second season before they've wrapped up the first there's probably no way we'll get all the answers and so will be left wondering. (Just like all the previous one-season shows that got canned before we got all the answers.)

No-one ever said it had to.

12 Monkeys is still the one to beat.
And yet I stopped watching that after about 4 episodes.

The talk in the states is that it was extended from 13 to 16 episodes purely to fill the shedule out on NBC and also so that it could be given a proper ending. Their is outside issues regarding the show which includes NBC, SONY and the creators being sued for copyright infringement.

The first episode has already been totally illogical and has fundamentally broken a timeline, I'm not sure if my curiosity will be enough to drag me back to watch again.

I agree with the review "Sadly it's logically flawed. Very flawed" at IMDB
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5511582/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

If I'm at home when the next ep airs and I'm not busy, I probably will be watching, but with a very critical eye, sadly.

It was better than I expected. The start was a bit quick - we've built a time machine so get ready to go in 10 minutes. But I liked the initial surprise about the Hindenburg being saved and then later the fact the baddie seems to know about his pursuers' futures. It's formalic but a bit different.

I liked it but it's the first show I've watched about time travelling so I suppose I didn't have high expectations. I liked the 3 main characters and their actors. I had only seen Matt Lanter in 90210 previously so it was nice to see him in a better show.

I thought it quite fun and yes its the first 'lets go back to major events' type show I've seen since "Time Tunnel" way back when!
Strangely the thing thats been bugging me was why did mr hero soldier guy try to diffuse the bomb (when he had no idea how to) rather than just chuck it out of the window?
Oh, and the main baddie with the Prof's yet to be written diary is obviously her son
