That is going to be a killer for everyone planning to go away or see far flung relatives over the Christmas period.

Really worried about this

Strike if you want to...by all means, but why make a point of ruining countless folks holidays?
I understand it's probably to garner more attention, and to make an impact, but utterly selfish.

Isn't that the point of a strike.

It's despicable. Of course it's the most convenient time to make things inconvenient in order to make the point, but still.

Not forgetting BA cabin crew might strike as well....though that will only likely effect a small number of routes.

Wondering whether to cancel my holiday now. Airline has no info. Can't order currency ahead of time. Bastards. Wonder how many thousands will have their Christmas spoiled?

Won't it cost you money to cancel?

Probably yes but if they aren't flying (I realise we don't know the impact, just stressed out) then I don't know what to do. Railways striking, pilots working to rule, cabin crew striking, baggage handlers striking and check in staff striking. Makes me wonder if all the unions are co-ordinating to cause as big an impact as they can.

At the moment it's just sit & wait to hear anything, and just keep checking the airlines website for up to date information...they may allow a change of date at no additional charge or to cancel with a full refund....or it may even be check in as normal until a decision is made.

With strike action it is all too common to go for the biggest impact, so when booking for peak dates there is always the risk.

You had me worried there - until I looked it up and discovered that I won't be affected (as I'm flying on Wednesday).

I'm flying with BA on Christmas Eve with my brothers to go to China to see my mum who I've only seen once this year. It's bad enough that I'll be stuck at the airport over Christmas, but the thought of my mum being in a different country alone makes it even worse. It is just horrible to knowingly ruin so many families at what is for many, the only time they can all be together.

You might not be.....International flights they will try there very best to get going, Domestic & European flights are the ones that will have least priority.

BA mixed fleet cabin crew going on strike 25th & 26th Dec.

What with the problems with airports, trains (strikes and engineering works) and chaos on the roads the best advice is to stop at home this Christmas.

Until a few years ago I really enjoyed going abroad over Christmas and/or New Year but the extra costs and hassle mean that it isn't worth it now.

Not sure if I will be effected or not, as I fly on the evening of the 24th and the flight goes into the 25th.

You should be fine I would have thought...the mixed fleet cabin crew accounts for approx 28% of BA's cabin crew fleet...for China it seems to be the Shanghai route that this crew work on.

That's one way for them to get their Xmas off.

I wouldn't thank God yet until you see what he has planned for the weather. I missed out on a holiday at Christmas 2010 because of the legendary inch of snow at Heathrow. My insurance company refused to pay out as bad weather is an "act of god".

I'm not flying but the rail strikes could affect me. I think they're selfish bastards doing it at this time of year. I'm not interested why they are striking, I'm just really annoyed I might not see my family due to rail strikes. My tickets are already bought and paid for by my family. If I can't get a train I suppose I could get a coach but can't afford a ticket this late in the day and I bet they'll be fully booked up anyway with the rail strikes. If the strikers think they'll get public support they're wrong where I'm concerned. I think rail strikes should be illegal. I have medication for a serious condition and if I can't get home I'll be ill as I need to get back by a particular day to pick up my meds which was arranged by my doctor.

Looks like another winter of discontent, will Aunty Theresa face them down and emerge like the Blessed Margaret
These Trot inspired workers and power crazy union leaders always use the same weapon hit Joe Public hard
It is time to introduce a system whereby Joe Public can sue these unions for their inconvenience, loss of wages, and jobs in certain cases. A few successful actions would soon put a stop to this
