It was a funny moment but also ridiculous. I felt conflicted by it.

I didn't, found it very cringey to be honest but then that's just me, agree to disagree.

On a side note why on earth are they all treating Phil like he's some sort of blessed saint considering the amount of times he's treated them all like crap I'll never know.

Even if he is "faaaaamilyyyyy" the fawning is just getting ridiculous now.

True, all is forgiven it seems when you are at deaths door !

But it is the same when a family member dies, no matter how they was alive people seem to only remember the good..

Very cringey indeed.

I thought Philth was having a mental breakdown for a second.

I can just imagine the men in white coats dragging Philth away as he screams at the top of his voice, "WHAT DID FROSTY THE SNOWMAN SAY TO THE POLICEMAN!!!?? I said, WHAT DID FROSTY THE SNOWMAN SAY TO THE POLICEMAN!!!??"

I thought it was a lovely way to counteract the negative news in the episode. Jay shone throughout.

Very fair point and you're right this does happen very often in real life but the amount of crap Phil has done over the years is just so borderline unforgivable that if he was ever a member of my family (which he isn't thank God) I would have cut all contact with him years ago.

Very cringey indeed.

Followed by a Julia's Theme with the whole Mitchells huddled up crying into each others shoulders in despair...Except Ben who is watching a far from the Garage STILL pulling this face.

I thought it preposterous that the officer retreated just because Phil told a few bad cracker jokes.

I feel sorry for Jay but he is on the register and there are certain stipulations that come with that. It's sending out a very dangerous message to suggest that you all need to do is shout bad jokes at anyone trying to enforce such stipulations to bypass them.
