So if it is a Taylor/Barney QF , Sky will undoubtedly want it in the evening session, meaning them either moving the World number 1 or the current 2-time champ to the afternoon
Anderson will be moved, he doesn't pull in casual viewers as much as MvG.

Should be MVG as he'll 'only' by playing Gurney or Webster in the quarters whereas Ando will be playing Chizzy or Klassen a much more exciting game on paper.

It won't be though cos Sky won't have Taylor or MVG in an afternoon session!

And MVG only played Reyes whilst the others had tougher matches ( on paper ). You never know Neddly Deadly. You never know. But MVG will be on in the evening, certainly as he is the greatest player on the planet and it isnt just the UK audience they will be thinking of, the Dutch too.

The Taylor v RVB 'All Our Yesterdays' match should be on in the afternoon.

I know it won't be but it should be.

I really don't like the set play format, as it can make losers look like idiots from a scoreline perspective, when in reality they could very possibly have a lost a match by a couple of legs.

Matchplay appears to me a far purer format that is equally exciting - more exciting often.

What is the view of others? Should the PDC change to matchplay from set play?

set play for me all day long. take the Gurney v Thornton match a couple of days back, Thornton lost the first 6 legs and if that had been a matchplay format his head would probably have dropped and you wouldn't have seen the comeback he put on. Yes, big come backs to happen in legs formats but they are rare compared to set play. it also means you get crucial legs far more often.

Don't get me wrong, I love any darts, sets or matchplay but I think for excitement, sets has it for me.

What happened I missed the opening.

And set play is so much better, for the worlds it's brutal.

He mixed up the introductions and announced Gurney first when Webster was actually first to do his walk-on.

It was funnier than it sounds - particularly Webster's moment of realisation.

A part of the game I don't really like with the crowd when doubles get desperate oh well good drama.

I can understand Gurney having a pop at the crowd after he won that set but I can't understand why he had a pop at Webster as well.

Gurney's still having a go at Webster!

This is immature behaviour from the Northern Irishman.

The unfortunate thing is that both Gurney and the crowd's behaviour seem to have got inside Webster's head.

Oh dear, this is a getting a bit ugly now.

There is no doubt in my mind that the only reason we have a deciding set is because of the crowd getting on Gurney's back.

You could say that Gurney is reaping what he sowed earlier in the match but I'm not sure about that myself.

Lord Hearn will be loving this. Sitting in his ivory castle rubbing his hands with glee as he counts his money made from entertaining football fans at the darts. Really feel for Gurney. He is a young, upcoming talent and this could destroy his confidence. We want players like him to do well.

It's pretty bad, poor Gurney hope he wins.

Gurney wins a match that quite frankly showed up all the ills of the PDC there.

I saw a post on Twitter which said that the crowd effectively bullied Gurney there and it's not easy to disagree with that assessment.

Unfortunately, that's what you get when you effectively tell the crowd that they can do what they like for the money they put into the PDC's coffers.

Diabolical.

Bullying is the word I would use. Its ok for the Sky pundits to say "he should take it" but they are old has beens now, he is a young player finding his way in the game still.

It's funny how at other big events such as the big one club rugby union match the fans all were quiet for kicker, despite I'd guess a similar cross over of crowd (non core fans)

I like some noise, but booing doubles and some of chants are poor.

The behaviour towards gurney was appallingly

How much was Daryl Gurney having to bite his tongue in that interview?

And Rod Harrington comes back with the PDC's view, namely that if a player wants the untold riches that are in the game today, they have to deal with the antics of the drunken masses they play in front of who make those riches.

Rodney is a plonker. Talks utter garbage. His monotone drone is so dull.

Gurney was his own worst enemy there IMO. Not condoning the crowd for one minute, but as a player you can't start winding them up unless you're prepared to be a professional heel like Manley or Nicho and have them boo you constantly.

Notice how Webby didn't rise to them and they didn't then treat him as harshly.

For the young players its a vast difference from the pro tour players championships

The juxtaposition between the two is incredible. They play a stack of pro tour events which are held behind closed doors with no crowd and they go to that. I still feel Gurney was badly treated.
