No player in the world could compete with this standard from MvG now.

Unstoppable from MvG, just unstoppable.
Barney averaging 110.58 and 5-2 down, it just beggars belief. |

Fair play to Barney, the Barney of old would have had his head down here and given up he's tried his guts out tonight but no human can beat MVG tonight!

MvG wins by finishing 90 with two D18s!
What an amazing, incredible, astonishing, magnificent, sensational, fantastic, brilliant, tremendous, superb, awesome darts match. Seriously though, as given to hyperbole as I am, I think we really do seriously have to consider that that is the greatest match ever seen on a televised stage in the whole history of World Darts. |

You almost think that darts can't be played much better than that. 114.05 over 8 sets.

What a performance from MVG! Great effort from RVB too. Both players broke records in the end, MVG highest ever World Championship average and RVB with the highest ever losing average!

meh Micky Mouse Tournament, shame it puts you off this amazing standard, have you seen it?
It really pees me off that so called darts fans call the BDO. It isn't needed. None of these players you fawn over would be here without the BDO. You don't have to enjoy watching it but it deserves some respect. |

Barney's average is the fourth highest average recorded in the history of the World Championship - and, needless to say, the highest average ever recorded in a World Championship defeat. I've got no way of checking this but I'm pretty sure there's never been a televised darts match with a combined average of 223.39

He won two sets and his average dropped considerably. I think only the match winners averages should count in one sides scored games. |

Can understand Barney feeling that way, same with Phil they must look at the likes of MVG and Ando and think realistically can I ever beat them over 11/13 sets........doubtful. Barney played better than he's played in about a decade there and got beat 6-2.
