1-1 a fair scoreline as both sets could have gone either way.
Very rare miss of a big number from MvG then - and was Anderson trying a bit of psychology by going for two tops on 80 with three darts in hand? |

Yes, that 80 checkout could be priceless - MvG's error lets Anderson in for the second set.
Nice game simmering. |

BIG moment that for Anderson.
MvG missing too many doubles at the moment. |

Time to draw some conclusions.
Darts is a sport. End of. It is a professional pursuit involving specialised equipment, uniforms, scoring, skill, dexterity, durability (You try spending most of Xmas and New Year in a baking auditorium and chucking averages of 100+) and mental fitness. Also, it is shown on Sky Sports, BT Sport etc, and under BBC/ITV/C4 Sport banners. The PDC and BDO are equal in eyes of the law in organising world championships. Regardless of perceived quality, both Scott Waites and Gary Anderson (and indeed Trina Gulliver) are the current World Darts Champions. Let's face it, it could be worse - could be boxing. The BDO suits people who like quieter crowds and suits players who have other jobs and prefer playing county darts week in week out. And due to being on terrestrial, it is seen by more TV viewers than the PDC. But then the PDC suits a different audience and a different type of player. The Lakeside will always be the "home" of darts in my humble opinion, but then I'm watching the Ally Pally one tonight just because I like the sport. I also don't see any of the BDO critics, even fierce ones like Bisto, discredit any of their own world titles. Phil Taylor has won 16, not 14. Barney has won 5, not 1. John Part has won 3, not 1. |

Did I hear Rod Studd say that the most 180s in a match is 34 ? Do we know what game that was in please ? Was it last years final ?

Looks like it's going to be 3-1 to the Flying Scotsman any time soon.

Oh, what a pressure 86 finish from MvG there!
What a steal of a set as well, Anderson's break in the third set counts for nothing. There is so little between these two players, it's extraordinary. |

Raining 180s. Making it look ridiculously easy.

Feels like Gary needs to keep MVG on a tight leash, if he goes 2 sets down this could be 7-2 or 7-3 very quickly.

It'll probably go just like last night now. MvG moves up a couple of gears and it's goodnight Vienna... or London.

MvG still missing too many doubles
At the moment that's the main thing keeping Anderson in the match. |

4-2, MvG starting to pull away now
He is just so good at crushing opponents in the key middle part of matches. |
