Christmas of Discontent?
So we are seeing strike action with 4 different areas of professions-
Rail workers - Southern Rail Postal Workers - Crown Post Office Airline Workers - British Airways Airport Workers - Swissport All in this month and around Christmas time. In terms of the rail strike, I feel they are correct and the safety concern is valid. The postal workers strike, haven't read much on that, but their industry is so competitive, and it's easily automated and has no such safety concerns like the rail strikes, so many need to consider another profession unfortunately. BA always strike over pay and it's unending for them, will they ever have a deal that they are happy with? The Airport baggage handlers seem to have a bad deal, which has gone on for years and hopefully they'll get a better one. It's no surprise that workers would chose this time to strike, as it's the busiest holiday season. I think this'll be a reoccurrence from now on, as it'll have the most impact, especially when a few organisations all go on strike. |
