On a recent trip to New York, I tried a Chick-fil-a for the first time. I'd vaguely heard of it previously because the company is run by right-wing Christian fundamentalists who are very anti-gay marriage. Despite that, I was curious what it was like. It was pretty nice. It's sort of like KFC in a bun - with 'waffle' chips. Anyone else given it a go? Might they want to open in the UK?

AIUI Chick fil A are actually one of the better fast food places to work at, compared with McDonald's etc they treat their staff better and they get Sundays off.

NB I personally support gay marriage.

There was a Chick fil a at the end my street so I went in there a couples of times, I found it quite meh to be honest. I wouldn't be that bothered if it didn't come over here.

We don't have Chick-fil-A here; I just checked their site's map.

While on the subject of Chick-fil-A's owners being anti-gay marriage, Mr. Tenna and I boycotted Domino's Pizza several years ago because their owners were anti-pro-choice.

Not sure if they still are, but we prefer pizza from a local mom and pop joint, anyway.

Other than a one day pop up there has never been a Chick Fil A in the UK.

I didn't say it was in London. I'm talking about New York that is what the OP is mentioned after all. I'm fully aware that there is no Chick fil-a in London thanks...

No, but your profile location is down as 'London', and you talked about not being fussed if they came 'over here', so it's pretty easy to see why people assumed you meant London.

I didn't make that assumption.

Only been once when we were in Orlando several years ago. We enjoyed it; even my fussy youngest daughter who used to throw a strop 75% of the time we ate at restaurants. The chicken itself is much better than KFC I thought. More tender and just tasted better. The waffle fries are a novelty I guess but were nothing special.

Well other people did, including me to some extent.

Your OP made it very clear that there was no Chick fil a here, I wasn't disagreeing.

Here are the words that were not included in my original post, "where I stayed in New York," this obviously caused the issue.

Hope that clarifies matters.

I certainly wouldn't welcome this company to come here.

Yes. I have had them in Florida and when they were in the UK. I went to the Doncaster one when it opened. Ironically I worked at McDonalds at the time McDonalds bought them out. I ended working in the McDonalds that was the Wendy's lol.

What is ironic about that?

Well, when you get that urge for fast food it can play havoc with your principles can't it?

They're all over the place here in Virginia. Hate them as a company but their garden grilled chicken salad is fantastic so I try and ignore that.

Ooh yes... Wendy's is gooood!

Simon, you're lucky enough to live in Sheffield, which has 2 Taco Bells! I'm heading to Sheffield tomorrow, for New Year, and can hardly wait to go for a feed!
