No coverage on BBC News online. You'd think this guy would deserve an obit, even if he did work for the other side.
![]() RIP. |

One of his greatest scoops was during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Journos were heading towards where they thought the Turkish paratroops would land but Nicholson's car broke down and he was apparently stranded and ignored by his colleagues. The paratroops actually landed right on top of him and he had the first pictures and interviews and got them on the air first. A great journalist.

I always remember Michael reporting on the Falklands for ITN, with Brian Hanrahan reporting for the BBC.
Two fine reporters, both now sadly gone.

I recently came across his book about the girl he adopted from Bosnia, anyone know what she's doing now?

So sorry to hear this news. He was up there with the best and during ITN's best days.
Nice image here. |

John Simpson - 50 Years on the Frontline, BBC1 tonight 7.30 p.m. ( Wales 1040 p.m.). He looks back over his career. Should be of interest to those who follow war correspondents.

It was his reports from the Falklands that I first thought of also.
As mentioned above, his voice, and that of Brian Hanrahan will be the voices of that war. |
