Dancing more 'traditional' dances may have helped as well as opposed to. perhaps, overly interpretive dances.

He did the ballroom that Len LOVES, and he did it with accuracy, spirit and panache.

Len LOVED it. And he expressed that.

Len pushed him both last week and this week. Not sour grapes; he did say that Ore was his favourite contestant.

It's funny because I was reading an article earlier about how the public tend (though admittedly not always) to follow Len's lead. I thought Danny and Oti were finished as potential winners last week but the moment Len said Ore was his favourite this week I knew he and Joanne would win it.

The link, for anyone interested (though they got the winner wrong!).

Quote:
“Len standing to applaud Ore after his first dance, the quickstep, was the first sign it was ‘mission get Ore to the final’ night.

It also sent a shudder down the spine recalling Len doing the exact same thing to help push Matt Di Angelo into the final in 2007, which was done to cleverly conspire Gethin Jones’ elimination, gifting Alesha Dixon the series win. On that occasion, the show’s dark arts were a painful and costly lesson.”

Just to hasten to add - this isn't sour grapes; just the above post reminded me of this.

YEP.

It's STILL Strictly, not 'dance and faff like how you want'.

Agree,

the Ore bashing was part of the reason I am more chuffed about his victory.

I said tonight I would vote for the best on show and Ore did that. I just was baffled at the attacks he kept getting when clearly Danny made a huge mistake during his first dance and Louise had a latin dance.

We then got the "Seems we know who the judges want to win!!! " Fix screams

I don't get it.

I was bitter when Louis Smith won but he was a great dancer. So I have been there.

in part its the pro versus the amateur again - as with Denise and Kellie too. Though I think Abbey had a natural dancer, and actor, lurking within her - which developed over time. . Ore developed much less and didn't arrive anywhere for me. .His journey was odd too - he started suitably low, leapt to a high standard with no explanation a few weeks later, regressed, and then started being credited for being better than he was.

Yes, but if Alesha or Louis had lost, that would still have been counted as evidence of prejudice.

I hope this result shuts up the people who always find a 'race' issue with SCD. I am really glad the Great British Public do not.
Fancy that, the best dancer won!!!!

Has there been any other celebrity apart from Danny Mac that was favourite from the start. But lost in the final

Ballroom tends to be favoured by the public; it's amazing so many pros seemingly forget the support Tom and Camilla's showdance got, despite it probably not effecting the votes very much at all.

Having two Ballroom routines to Danny's one (which he mucked up) and Louise's none would have done Ore the world of good.

Ore may have won officially but Danny and Oti are my winners. They are the only couple that I have loved all of their dances.

Next year, I refuse to have a favourite.

Maybe it's nicer for the finalists to be able to celebrate the moment and be with their families rather than being forced to sit and talk to Zoe, being asked the same questions as ten minutes before!

Though I think they should do a Monday It Takes Two after the final.

I thought his messing up might garner him more votes, very surprised he didn't win and as for Louise, she danced beautifully throughout and I didn't want a gym display tbh so respectfully I disagree re Claudia

I said that after last year. It worked out so very well.

You won't be able to HELP yourself.

I say the damned same every year.

I agree that the pro verses amateur thing was made out to be important this year on the show...not that Danny is anywhere near a pro so I'd say some dance experience verses non trained. And I think maybe because of Jay's win last year it was the wrong year to be the one with any experience. It might swing the other way next year.
I think they wanted an Ore win...it was pretty clear last week and then this week when they chose Singin' in the Rain and had invited Gene Kelly's widow to be in the audience and she got that lovely round of applause... I saw where the trophy was going then.

But Ore was good...never exciting which Danny and Oti always were for me but it's horses for courses after all and he did well tonight.

Also the Len tribute made me well up a bit.

I will just avoid watching ITT. I fall in love with couples when I see them during interviews. I didn't have a favourite last year.

Well, yeah, the fact that AJ would purely be there as a springboard wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest!

Would liked to have seen her samba done to its full potential though
who me?

I didn't want a favourite either this year...never heard of Danny Mac! And after supporting Pixie then Helen I was pleased not to have one. Until I saw their cha cha cha, so much fun energy and excitement. Good luck with your efforts next year though!

I didn't have an out and out favourite in the year Abbey, Frankie, Natalie and Susanna made the final. I probably wanted Natalie to win but, very much like Danny tonight, she had a weak opening to the final and I wasn't as invested. Wasn't too fussed about Louis Smith's year either.

So it can be done... I just haven't managed it in a while.

I'm really pi$$ed off that Ore won, but I don't think Danny's QS had anything to do with it. Ore was more popular with the public and obviously his fans did him proud tonight.

I'm 72 years old and never gambled in my life. A gambling friend persuaded me to put a bet on Ore in week 2. Guess who's laughing now?
