i hope we get a flashy redesign

the best thing to come out of this new forum imo is the jail system. i'm on my final warning before i get banned from here permanently so to know u cant get banned anymore is good news. but does anyone know if the jail thing is carried over from past bans or if its all new?

i'm glad we're getting new smilies, i think the ones we have now are kinda old and i'm not really keen on the and yeah ok its probably not intended, but i think they come across as kinda smug and sarcastic in some comments ppl make

and notifications is a good idea. if u leave a thread, u get notified if someone has replied to your comments

oh and the search function working. to know i won't have to google threads no more is pretty cool

the like/dislike thing is a massive mistake tho. it sounds like it'll b a popularity contest. first off, this forum is pretty cliquey anyway so it'll probably end up being a case of: anyone popular/in clique gets likes all the time, and anyone whose not as popular gets dislikes all the time. and second of all, social media is the worst thing ever invented. not everyone has it, but it seems to of just taken over the world and i hate that its pointless and contributes nothing, does it really have to come to this forum too?

I've heard about burying posts, that could make ppl feel ignored so that's a bad move

it mostly sounds good except for the like/dislike and burying posts

what do u think?

What is 'burying posts' if you don't mind me asking? But I'm not fond of the like and dislike function and I don't think it's necessary.

Absolutely nothing, so can be considered off-topic.

Cool guy people who post regularly tend to get to know each other and unsurprisingly aren't going to respond to anyone who accuses them of being cliquey. Why on earth should people engage or be nice to anyone who accuses them of thst in any case?

You seem like a good guy and I enjoy your posts but I think that people get out of a forum what they put in and if you go in with that attitude towards others then unsurprisingly there won't be much of a response

I think the like/dislike buttons are a bad idea but they are going to be anonymous so noone can see who likes or dislikes a post.

People will inevitably hate it when it happens, threaten to leave then get used to it.

I think they are making the forums more complex than they need to be. Like/dislike is a huge mistake. I don't care for notifications either. The great thing about DS forums has always been the no frills set up.

Bib 1: saw it in general discussion from forum support mate

the threads here:
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...3#post84877893

its on post 14 page 1 I've bolded it below in case the link doesn't work tho

- Reactions: we will be introducing more positive than negative reactions. All actions are logged so we can review them all. Similarly, they are for the lurkers more-so than the regulars, though they are of course welcome to use them as well. Many members sign in and just read rather than taking part. We are also keen on the burying of poor-quality posts that are voted by the community. We can then see if there are particular trends ("does a user have many buried posts? Maybe they are doing it deliberately to disrupt the forums?...")

Bib 2: yeah same!

Not really. DS has a tendency to make things worse every time it claims to "upgrade" or "improve" something, as well as ignore feedback even when 99% of users criticise something. The last forum upgrade was so bad, I had to download Stylish in order to have a style that looked like the old blue/white forum did...the grey/beige look gave me headaches.

The post burying/like/dislike feature has got disaster written all over it, and I'm dreading the prospect of images and videos flooding posts. I like DS because it's basic and simple, everything they're proposing (unless they give an option to disable certain features) fills me with dread.

Hi

We have an ongoing thread discussing the forum changes and as this is the soaps board and has nothing to do with the DS Forums we will be closing it.

Regards,
DS
