I would rather Ed Balls have won

To shake things up a bit and wipe the smug face off Darcey! Would have been more interesting.

I would rather he be in the final than the three that are now. However, his demise was sorted when they had the cha cha cha challenge. They certainly knew what they were doing then.

I wouldn't have minded him in the final. I agree that it would have shook things up a bit. As it is, the only notable thing about this final is that it is Len's farewell.

Ed is my favourite ever SCD contestant and I miss him.

I would have liked him to be in the final.

Ed, Greg and Danny would have been perfect. Then I wouldn't have cared who won as love them all

Ed, Claudia and Danny would have been mine.
As it is the three in the final are all capable dancers....but it lacks the excitement of previous years to me. Virtually no build up in the press until yesterday..
even the 4 girl final had more expose'! In fact that one WAS more interesting1

I wish Ed could win too, especially with Claudia being robbed of a place in the final.

Contrary to any conspiracy theories, the cha cha challenge made absolutely no difference whatsoever to Ed's standing on the judges' leader board. The whole idea that it did was dreamed up by the media, and stands up to no scrutiny at all. Ed was at the bottom of the leader board regardless, therefore he got the fewest points from the judges. But the public could have reversed that … and they didn't.

What happened to Ed is a familiar pattern we have seen in virtually every single series of Strictly: comedy contestant scores lowest points from the judges, the public all vote for him/her; this keeps the comedy contestant safe for weeks and technically stronger celebs fall by the wayside (much to the vexation of some on here); then the public grow tired of the comedy contestant, and his/her vote dwindles, and s/he leaves. See also: Anne Widdecombe, Russell Grant and countless others.

The only time this model didn't fit was with John Sergeant in Series 6, whose popularity - hyped by the media - threatened to get so out of hand that he might not only have made the final but could also have lifted the glitter ball trophy. But the judges were much, much harsher with him, and Arlene Phillips in particular did repeated TV and radio interviews in which she trashed him - which only made the public like him more. I think lessons have been learned from that instance - and that is why the judges (apart from Craig) are now routinely nice to the comedy contestant.

She wasn't 'robbed'. Not enough people voted for her. If they had, she'd've been in the final. It really is that simple.

If the Judges had not manipulated the scores she could have stayed it is that simple.

Thanks you for your explanation but didn't the fact that the judges awarded two sets of marks not have any bearing on the points that they got on the leaderboard.

For the contestant above Ed, sure. But for Ed, bottom of the leader board in both rounds and bottom overall, no. No bearing at all. The judges combined votes appear on the leader board - and the position on the leader board then generates a point which is matched the public vote.

Ed would still have been bottom of the leaderboard if he'd got 6 i.e. the highest possible chacha challenge score.

Although I wouldn't want Ed to win I have missed him these past few weeks and would have liked him in the final for the entertainment factor.

No - it isn't.

If Claudia had topped the public vote, she'd've been in the final. It's that simple.

Over the years, we have seen countless SCD contestants at the bottom of the judges' leaderboard who were then saved by the public. That could very easily have happened with Claudia - but it didn't.

So quite why you blame the judges for something the public did escapes me …

The fact that the online site went down must have had an impact. I voted for Claudia 3 times online and as it would not then let me log out i have no idea if they actually counted or not. Also i am sure Ore is a lovely person but his constant over-scoring, tears and judge favouritism has put me off so badly i can't stand him now
