Private Dancer and I don't wanna lose you are the best Tina Turner songs. Both absolutel gems
I've only just realised that Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits wrote that song!

Sorry I disagree. The music Dusty did with the Pet Shop Boys was still very classy and not bland like alot of Tina Turner's solo efforts.
That's your opinion I guess, but I found what Dusty produced with the Pet Shop Boys incredibly insipid... And independently, I like Dusty and the PSB.

Not only did Knopfler write the song, it's pretty much a complete rewrite of the earlier Dire Straits song "Love over Gold". Almost the same tune. Not Knopfler's most inspired moment. I remember being very disappointed when I heard Turner's version and thought "Hang on, haven't I heard that somewhere before?"

I've listened to Love Over Gold; lyrically I can hear some similarities, but musically, I can't. Maybe I need to listen to it a few more times,

I was always more interested in watching Clare Louise Turton as she was in those days, (the one with the short hair).

She must have been dancing with Tina for well over a decade
