He might have wanted to win it but not a lot. Not everyone is obsessed about winning. For some people, it really is the taking part that counts. Even though he didn't win, he didn't seem that gutted by the result.

From early on in the competition, I'm sure that Danny said that he didn't think that he would win. Also after being in the bottom two last week, I think that he realised that he wouldn't win.
Yes, and Ore never believed he could win either, he didn't think he could take Jo to Blackpool.

Why are you pretending as if you know him personally?

How do you know if he wanted to win, it was only a bit and for Oti.

It is in any humans nature, if you get to a point where you can win, like a final, you will want to win and for yourself, for the joy of winnng. All three wanted to lift the trophy last night, thee is no shame in it and all three were good sports and they were all happy for each other to win, but they all want it.

To be fair, I think Danny said this in an interview that I saw,
Ah, okay, thx. I thought perhaps she knew him.

How am I pretending that I know Danny?

I just basing my thoughts on what I have seen throughout the competition.

haha, quite possibly However, even though Danny did say it in the interview, absolutely no-one that enters any competition, doesn't want to win....especially when they get into a final.

In it, to win it, as they say.

That was mine too! I was feeling it would never happen again.
How funny, we have both waited so long!

I forgot about the bit of a high you get when the person who you vote to win actually does win.

I was so suprised when they said Ore I actually screamed!

Never been known to do it before, watching Strictly, I actually did a double fist pump, so pleased that the best dancers actually won.

Because you are placing your own projections onto him.

All three wanted to wjn, for both themselves and their pro partners. You cannot say that Danny wanted it less then the others, how do you know if you don't know him or the others?

Anyway, I'm leaving it here, this thread is for Ore and Jo's great triumph, not for Danny Mac and his humble denial of ever winning.

Ore was the first male I had wanted to win for a long time I usually back the females. But I did not back either Abbey or Caroline. So this is probably the best result for me since Kara won.

What a great final, I was rooting for Ore and Jo but really didn't think that they would win.

Sooo, pleased for them.

No, I'm not.

How can you say that Danny really wanted to win but I can't say that Danny wasn't overly fussed about winning? I based my opinions on what Danny has said and his reactions. I'm not dismissing that he might have wanted to win a bit but I don't think that he is too disappointed that he didn't.

I was so delighted for Ore and Jo as I was convinced that Danny and Oti would win.

Ore got five of my votes and my theory is that lots of viewers felt that Danny had it 'in the bag' and so voted for Ore.

Last nights show was magnificent and Ore winning was the fairytale climax.

Absolutely effin' brilliant.

Tbh I just think Danny underperformed and Ore performed out of his skin, grabbing votes from people who had never voted for him before.

Haha, you have got to love the double fist pump!
Yes, I was too, but completely suprised though. It was a really good end to the year to see this result.

There was a big factor, the 35% of floating viewers who hadn't decided who to vote for before the final.
Obviously Ore won the majority of these viewers to win last night

They really hit the ground running and Danny and Oti faltered at the first hurdle.

Just goes to show that when you're in the zone everything else follows

Do not believe that Ore has not has some sort of dance training.

Being a BBC person he knew months ago he was doing Strictly. So got the practice in early.

The fact that the Beeb are not releasing voting stats just proves to me that it was a total fix from the word go.

Awful winner worst one for years.

No fix. Ore pulled it out of the bag when it really mattered whilst Danny had a pretty bad final scattered with errors. I felt very sorry for Oti who is a fabulous choreographer and I think Danny's nerves let him down.

As for BIB, I should imagine they all got the call at the same time. Being a BBC person didn't help Naga did it?

Naga knew back in February when she got the phone call.

Anyways, Ore was in Rio for the Olympics for most of the summer, I doubt he had time for any internsive pre-Strictly training.

Of course he wanted to win. For himself, and Oti. It's not bad to want to win a competition you take part in. IMO it's fake humble to say that you want to win for your partner, but not yourself.

Was he expecting to win, I don't think so. He does seem like a somewhat humble guy without a huge ego, so he wasn't thinking he had it in the bag. But of course he wanted and hoped to win, that far in the competition. That's human and healthy.

Translation: Wah! My favourite didn't win! I can't possibly be wrong so clearly it must be some kind of horrible conspiracy and all you fools are too stupid to see it. Only I'm smart enough!

As I said in my last post, I don't think that he was desperate to win. When the result was announced, he didn't seem at all disappointed and immediately went to hug Ore.
