Danny made some pretty huge mistakes tonight & his and Oti's show dance, in my opinion was very drama school teen angsty... quite embarrassing

The judges obviously had to point it out, Craig was generous with a 9 imo. The Samba pulled them back from the brink but who votes that late? It was a forgone conclusion that Ore would be the winner... Louise's Cha Cha had no rhythm/hip action & as much as I loved it, contemporary isn't for everyone ... so their show dance was a moot point... sadly

Singer singing Adele's 'Fire to the Rain' didn't help matters & was pretty terrible too, maybe the BBC could actually use tracks for the final next series?

Has there been any other more obvious slip ups in the final before - I can't seem to recall

Jay McGuiness - he was the worst on show in the Final last year.

Did Danny make a mistake in his showdance? I can't be sure but one little move looked awkward.

I can't call it but thought an eagle eye may have spotted it if it happened.

I thought Danny was the worst tonight. Seeemd to make pretty big errors in both his QS and showdance. Maybe it was nerves/tiredness?

That's not what the public thought and he deservedly won.

Yeah I watched his on Youtube... it was all about Aliona, trying to be hip & cool... didn't like that much either imo

But Jay did go on to win!

I think the OP means the Quickstep as they also said Craig gave them a nine. But then there's a mention of Set Fire to the Rain so...

All three couples made technical errors tonight which were, for the most part, ignored. Unfortunately Danny's was so obvious the judge's had no choice but to point it out.

The pressure was on Danny to win being so good throughout the series...more often than not, its better going in as the underdog

Immaterial to the OP's question.

The world and his son knows that Jay would have still beaten Kellie & Georgia hands down last year if he had come on stage and simply broken wind.

I noticed it. Was out of sync with Oti quite obviously at one point.
I didn't see much improvement in Louise's cha cha either. And found her AT not as smooth either especially when slowly gliding feet along the floor, looked very sticky.

Do you have life insurance? Because you'll need it pretty fast.

I didn't see any mistakes in his showdance but preferred the ballroom based dance from Ore.

First dance he was nervous maybe the dance off last week effected him. Glad though that the performances on the night meant something. Does not happen every year.

Colin and Erin didn't make mistakes - the routine was meant to show how far he'd come as he had learnt so well that he could dance without her lead, but sadly it fell flat on its face. I didn't mind it if truth be told, but Gough would have won anyway no matter what Colin did.

Kara made a mistake in her showdance but it clearly didn't matter in the end.

Kara messed up one of her lifts in her showdance? Anyway she hurt her elbow/shoulder and went on to win it! Usually the final is really flat with not that brilliant dancing. Apart from the QS, which I still enjoyed, they all performed brilliantly tonight.

I thought the question was has anybody else made mistakes in the final. Did Jay make mistakes?

Yes, I saw the very obvious one he made it was a much more subtle thing in his showdance but I'm not certain if it was a mistake or not.

Yeah I meant the Quickstep... but the music for their show dance was poorly sung too.

Just didn't have a good night sadly, I agree the pressure got to him

I know his showdance was very popular on here but a few seconds in I knew Oti had misjudged it and it was a poor choice. I'm sure that contributed to him losing too.

I'm going to be slightly controversial here and point the finger slightly at Oti, as much as I love her as a professional. When you have a quick learner then chucking a lot of choreography at them may just pay off and they'll pull off excellent routines. But if they go wrong it spells trouble as the speed of the dance can result in the misfire being very obvious. On top of that, when learning one dance a week they had time to hone everything. Tonight had three dances; two had been danced before but the choreography was altered in the Quickstep which probably didn't help Danny either.

I'd say it was probably a combination of nerves, pressure, trying to bounce back from the bottom two and being away from Oti for long periods which worked against him in the end. For much of both the American Smooth and Show Dance Ore was either in hold or close to Joanne which meant she was there for support.

And I say that as someone who loved the Showdance.

I saw an awkward point in it too - can't remember what now though

Can we count Bacofoil as a "mess up", or is it just an absolute mess?

It was very Dancing with the Stars--angsty contempo + gimmicky prop work. I think a lot of Strictly viewers prefer more conventional ballroom numbers if given the choice. And it didn't suit Danny's strengths.
