Can we count Bacofoil as a "mess up", or is it just an absolute mess?

Danny made some pretty huge mistakes tonight & his and Oti's show dance, in my opinion was very drama school teen angsty... quite embarrassing
![]() The judges obviously had to point it out, Craig was generous with a 9 imo. The Samba pulled them back from the brink but who votes that late? It was a forgone conclusion that Ore would be the winner... Louise's Cha Cha had no rhythm/hip action & as much as I loved it, contemporary isn't for everyone ... so their show dance was a moot point... sadly Singer singing Adele's 'Fire to the Rain' didn't help matters & was pretty terrible too, maybe the BBC could actually use tracks for the final next series? Has there been any other more obvious slip ups in the final before - I can't seem to recall ![]() |

Danny's mistake in the Quickstep was obvious so had to be mentioned. The others weren't perfect either in all of theirs - I thought Ore looked exhausted in his Jive and thought Louise had a couple of slightly iffy moments in her Cha Cha.
I didn't spot any mistakes in Danny's showdance but I was completely swept away by it so probably wouldn't have cared if there were, I thought it was amazing. It was Louise's showdance that I thought was a complete mess - I thought the lift in the middle that the judges praised looked as if it went horribly wrong (it seemed to be a pretty similar lift to the one Darcey hated in Danny's AS last week), and after that it looked as if they were off-time and just making it up! Just goes to show how subjective it all is and how we all spot some things but miss others depending on what we're focusing on at the time! |

I know his showdance was very popular on here but a few seconds in I knew Oti had misjudged it and it was a poor choice. I'm sure that contributed to him losing too.

It was very Dancing with the Stars--angsty contempo + gimmicky prop work. I think a lot of Strictly viewers prefer more conventional ballroom numbers if given the choice. And it didn't suit Danny's strengths.
Joanne won that battle hands down. Understanding your audience is key. |

In your opinion, not fact. I thought it was the standout dance of the night (though Ore's was bloody good too!).
And probably that of a sizable number of voters.

Ore's dance hit the spot with its nostalgic Hollywood feel. Coming after that Singing in the Rain performance it sealed the deal. |

I think Strictly's demographic. ESPECIALLY in the finals, are generally older, so they will like a traditional dance more than a modern looking dance.

For me it was all about who danced best on the night because I had no favourites. Up until last week I had never voted Ore but I absolutely loved his and Joanne's dances tonight so he got my votes.
Danny definitely wasn't at his best and I was never a fan of his samba even though I can appreciate how dramatic and well danced it was. |

Still boggles my mind that Caroline Flack won with her contemporary number, but then a lot of the viewing public like Pasha so... and her Charleston to 'Istanbul' was brilliant!
![]() See I'm not in that demographic and tbh I really disliked Ore's numbers, except the Jive so it could very well be an age thing. I wouldn't vote for them for sure. Isn't there a slide in Tom's foxtrot routine? Or am I thinking of someone else?

You stated Oti had misjudged it as if it were fact, I was pointing out that not everyone thought it was a misjudgement. And I really don't think anyone can make any sort of assertion about how people voted and why except for the obvious that Ore got more votes than the other two.
We all post our opinion. Even you

Danny may have made mistakes but he was still very good. He's my winner. I loved all of his dances.

I said to my husband this week that Danny wouldn't win because he wouldn't cope with 3 dances. Even though he's done 2 before. He's a slow learner. Until the semi final he was training 11 hours a day Mon- Thurs for a 2 minute dance routine. I was surprised the showdance got 40. He made errors, I saw them so did a few people on this site. He was a good dancer. Trouble is, no real journey.

Jay McGuiness - he was the worst on show in the Final last year.

Immaterial to the OP's question.
The world and his son knows that Jay would have still beaten Kellie & Georgia hands down last year if he had come on stage and simply broken wind. and ![]() I quite liked Jay but the second coming adulation for him turned me off. I don't think the Danny love had the same hysteria and I liked Danny a lot.

Ore's dance hit the spot with its nostalgic Hollywood feel. Coming after that Singing in the Rain performance it sealed the deal. As a pretty late middle aged lady I danced a HECK of a lot of contemporareh, and was a bloody disco diva.I think a LOT of people, younger than you think (my family) like 'traditional' because it's what Strictly was about, and it introduced them, as children, to a disciplined form of dance. And plenty of clever youngsters RESPECT 'retro' skills. Ore 'hit the spot' because THAT'S what Strictly is actually about, for a LOT of us, not just the 'old'. We've been educated by Strictly (at its best) and ALL of us have been exposed to 'dance and movement' and that's NOT what a lot of people want. Strictly has that SPECIAL discipline. It loses that at it's peril. People, not just the old, VALUE that. |

I don't mind single out your post specifically but along with prior dance experience, I am SO fed up with the whole journey talk. I simply want to be entertained by good dancing.
But equally some of those without any dance in their history can be brilliant too - Ore is a great example of that. Just goes to show that different people take different things from the show. |

I have felt quute a few of their dances to have an excess of aggression, especially their argentine tango, it felt almost violent at the end. I think casual watchers and voters maybe saw that against Ore and Jo who looked like they were having a great time togther and putting on a show and voted for the overall feel good factor of it. |

Danny is arguably the best male celeb dancer there's been on SCD and who knows, he might be the best ever. It's hard to imagine many male celebs dancing better than him. He's raised the bar incredibly high.
As for making mistakes, he's only human. Overall he was a class act. |
