I notice Will Young never turned up for the final show despite every contestant who took part having the professionalism to obligate their contract.

His fans are said to be 'outraged'. I'm not sure why because he was asked, but refused to turn up. Very unprofessional.

A show source revealed: 'It became obvious that despite his huge dance background he was never going to be a contender because there are so many better celebs.

'The few previous contestants to go have quit because they're injured or a family member has died – not because they feel they can't win.'

PLEASE don't make it about a petulant diva and his antics! We'll just be giving him more airtime... he didn't want to return and after refusing to train with Karen it would be super awkward anyway... Best now it's forgotten.

It's been a fantastic series & fabulous goodbye to Len Goodman, that's what this series will be remembered for

We already knew he wasn't going to be there. We dont know the real reason he quit in the first place so everything else is pure speculation. The Daily Mail not exactly known for truthful reporting.

To be honest, i think it'd be ridiculous tonight for him to have been part of it all, it'd be cheating in my eyes....people would have slated him for sweeping in at the end!

Forbid knows he's true reasons for quitting, i knew him quite well being a mega fan for years...i would not discount the knowing he couldn't win thing. I think he could have come fourth at best but he couldn't top Ore, Louise and Danny in anyway.

There were rumours that he was struggling with mental health problems.

Even so, several weeks have passed & he may have felt stronger emotionally, but he STILL didnt show. I dont think it leaves a good taste in the mouth.

To think quite a few people were pleased at his inclusion in the show.

I was one of the people who were excited by his inclusion, but to have him turn up would have made things 10 times worse. All the questions would have started again taking focus off the final. Also, just say it was mental health issues, returning to the trigger of that may not have been helpful for his recovery. He owes nobody.

As someone who has suffered from mental health issues, as have members of my family, I can completely understand him not wishing to return (if that was the reason he left). Sometimes it is best to walk away and just leave something in the past.

I am glad that Will Young pulled out, because of that we only had three couples in the final. This meant that every couple had the chance to do a show dance. I have been disappointed in previous years when one of the last four has been eliminated without having a chance to dance their show dance.
I loved the final tonight.

I think it's a real shame he's been given such a hard time if that was the reason he quit. It can be really debilitating suffering from mental illness and people should be more understanding and empathetic instead of bringing him down.

So you're saying, as a fan, that his realisation "I cant win" was a factor? If hes suffering from anxiety or depression, I can sympathise, if THAT is the reason he deserves NONE!!

Again with the disclaimer if it was mental health issues, I would say it is very difficult to understand if you havent experienced it first hand. I have found people are very judgemental when they havent been effected by it personally.

If it WAS a mental health issue, I can't have seen the BBC being as snide as they have been (The BBC being hypersensitive about being PC as they are)

Which leads to the intruiging question: was it something else? Or if it WAS related to mental health was it that he hasn't told the BBC that's the reason?u

Totally agree (if that was the reason he quit and none of us know). Think the majority of people feel depression and anxiety is something you can just snap out of and it's not a 'proper' illness. I'm better now but I remember on some days the thought of leaving the house scared me to death so can completely empathise with Will in that regard.

I remember when I suffered really badly from depression

At no point did I decide to go on a national TV show and do something very difficult.

Nor did I try to tell a 200 year old ballroom dancing expert how to do ballroom.

I definitely didn't sign up to any big contracts that my illness might leave me unable to fulfill.

Guess I'm one of the lUcKy OnEs!

[i did, however, play a LOT of online Scrabble. Come at me, I'll triple word score your face right off]

The 'mental health' issues were alleged and never shown to be fact and Young quit the show October 11th. A few weeks later he's performing at a concert in London so that speaks for itself. When Len Goodman gave him sound advice he threw his dummy out of his pram.
