Len sticks the boot into Danny Mac
Anyone else think that Len's orchestration of Ore's winning chances was an abuse of the head judges powers?
Emphasising that Ore was the only "amateur" dancer in the final and was the most improved certainly gave waverers someone to vote for. Coupled with the on-cue tears from Ore and the multiple shots of Ore's parents, there is no doubt that Ore picked up the sympathy vote tonight. There should be a rule that judges are always seen to be impartial. |

Ore IS the only true amateur in terms of experience. What's your point?

Sorry, but these fix/bias/unfairness threads are really getting tiresome now (well, they were getting tiresome weeks ago but tonight is taking the biscuit).
The role of a judge is not to be impartial, it is to give their opinion on whatever they're judging. That's always subjective, always their prerogative, end of. If people are swayed by that and can't make their own minds up then that's their problem. And stop saying "there is no doubt" as if you've got some magical insight into the minds of the voters. You don't - no-one knows why anyone but themselves voted. |

You don't know that for sure. How do know he did not have Private lessons during the Summer.

Even if Ore had lessons in the summer, it takes years to become a dancer like the professionals. IMO Ore has a natural ability.

It still wouldn't be the same as studying dance as Danny and Louise have. Clutching much.

Funny how Len has never had a problem with ringers in the past. We got it Len, your double standing ovation and twice reminding the public that Ore was an "amateur" said everything about your impartiality

Even though I wanted Danny to win, on the night Ore was the best overall.Still can't be doing with Ore though.
It would have been more of an injustice if Louise had won. |

I'm coming to the realization that Danny and Oti weren't popular. Even with the mistakes in his Quickstep, it was still a good dance, so were his other two.
I think that it was unnecessary for Len to highlight that Ore hasn't had prior dance training and to give him a standing ovation. We already know that. I think that Len made it clear who he wanted to win. |

Hjs natural ability, combined with Jo's amazing teaching and choreography really made him a stand out. I cannot believe the level he has reached in such a short time, it's crazy to even think about it. |

They did the same with Kellie last year but Jay's fan base was too strong.
The semi final is one of the biggest jokes I've ever seen - it was at X Factor level of farce. The comments and scores proved everything you need to know about Strictly - that it's just as manipulated as Big Brother, X Factor and any other reality TV show. Posters sit on here, tutting, sighing and rolling their eyes when others point out the farce that it is, but I'm sure the same was said for BB and TXF many years ago... Strictly's just been able to hide it better - until the last series or two. |

I think Len's words last week and this did push Ore over the line. It came quite obvious that he didn't want Danny or, indeed, to Louise to win; as said above subtely is not his strong point! But, unlike a head judge on another show, the public still do listen and respect him. Like in series five when he pushed Matt Di Angelo in the semi final, I think he did have a helping hand in the result.
Though Ore very much earned it this evening too. |

Eh? I didn't see any bias tonight. He pointed out one of the plus points of Ore - his progression from a non dancer. But he was effusive in his praise of Danny (and Louise) too. These "fix" threads are tiresome.

I agree that Len's comments were biased, just that its not unusual. I wonder what leads the judges to push one contestant more than the others at the end? Is it on dancing talent alone? Or other factors come into play? Audience popularity? Which dancers have developed the best across the series? (the dreaded "journey" word?) Whatever the reason Ore was the Chosen One tonight. I suspect Danny's lack of progression was a factor (ie: he started off excellent & didn't go anywhere after that) |

I do have a little smile to myself when people complain threads are tiresome. Why did you read and reply then?! It's not mandatory. If I read someone that bores me, I just find something else to do. I don't throw a wobbly that the topic at hand isn't interesting to me.
