Kevin makes it EVERYTHING about his partner! If as a "dancer" you're unable to see this, then I don't know how else I can explain it to you.
As for him hugging Jo, if you watch carefully again, you'll see that Danny runs to hug Ore, then Oti comes to him as well leaving Jo out of the picture, so Kevin rightly goes and hugs his sister.
