Kick off Christmas with a sentimental family classic Miracle on 34th St then after lunch have endless laughs with Home Alone and to finish the night with a little bit of action with Die Hard.

Home Alone 2. New York just encapsulates the Christmas spirit for me. Love it.

There are two types of people in the world.

Those who think Die Hard is the greatest Christmas movie ever.
And those who are wrong.

Gremlins, Scrouged and Muppets Christmas Carol tie for second place.

I always think Its A Wonderful Life being declared a Xmas film is like saying Mean Girls is one just because of the Jingle Bell Rock scene!

Not really my favourite but one of the strangest Christmas films I've seen is the minus man starring Owen Wilson in a mainly serious role as a serial poisoner. A real curio which never gets shown on TV.

I agree with the OP and don't consider It's A Wonderful Life as a Christmas movie either. Good movie in its own right, but save for the end of the film, there's nothing Christmassy about it.

Alistair Sim's A Christmas Carol is probably my favourite (which I'm just about to watch) followed by Die Hard, The first two Home Alone films and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation top my favourite Christmas comedies.

I suspect in the future people will assume Frozen is a Christmas film due to the ice and snow and will get shown every year.

But when George Bailey comes home having discovered the missing money, they're dressing a Christmas Tree while his daughter is practicing carols on the piano

The Holiday....watch it every year, we spend the morning putting decorations up and house tidying then me and my daughter have baths and put new pyjamas on and settle down with a box of chocolates and hot chocolate and watch it.

It's a Wonderful Life
Christmas Vacation
Love Actually
Trapped in Paradise (sadly it's rarely on TV)

I would also like to nominate 'Paddington' as a Christmas movie.

Also when George is running down the street at the end he's shouting "Merry Christmas movie house. Merry Christmas building and loan" and it's a bell on the Christmas tree that signifies that Clarence got his wings.
