As some people may know that most if not all Companies ban there Staff from entering any completions that they run and perhaps BBC should adopt that rule. By doing that they could stop accusations of them manipulating the show to look after their own.

Would that include soaps and shows aired on the BBC?
It would seriously reduce the pool of potential contestants if that were the case. We'd probably end up with a plethora of reality TV stars .

No.

I think you would be surprised at how few people the BBC actually employ. Those they do employ as full time, permenant employees are unlikely to be in SCD. They are lawyers, HR personel, facilities managers and so forth. Even the likes of camera operators, production managers etc are usually on fixed contracts rather than faling into the definition of employee as we would normally understand it.

Thise booked for SCD are usually self employed and booked for the duration ( pros and celebs). So in a sense everyone booked for the show is an employee for the duration and everyone booked is not an employee by normal definitions.

If you mean should they not book anyone who appears elsewhere on the BBC., I think that would be rather impractical and possibly a restraint of trade for the self employed service providers - aka celebrities.

Besides its not a real competition. They get a fee and there isn't a prize (just a bit of glory). The BBC aren't FIFA or IOC, they are only responsible for making the best TV they can. Given the ratings, I think for SCD they succeed.

OP if you want to see real dance competition with real arbitration then I suggest you enquire in the Latin and Ballroom thread. I am sure those posters will guide you to a resource for real competitve dance competitions.

Oh, don't be ridiculous. Carol Kirkwood, BBC weather presenter didn't get anywhere, Naga Munchetty was booted out quite early, Bill Turnbull only got to week 7. There have been loads of BBC presenters, BBC soap stars that have got nowhere.

Besides agreeing with An Thropologist, I have to say this appears to be yet another anti-Ore thread without any evidence to back up your argument.

There have been multiple BBC presenters who have competed in Strictly and not won (many never even reached the final). So why should Ore be different?

There is no 'looking after their own' conspiracy. Unfortunately for you, the contestants you liked weren't that popular with the public. End of.

And, quite frankly, it's only a television programme.

If you are refering to Ore OP, then I suspect he is freelance rather than employed by the BBC because he was presenting This Morning on ITV only the other week.

Time to put those toys back in the pram

Errm…No. It is a BBC show they are fully with in their right to cast BBC staff. Every other DWTS in the world cast from only their particular network. Eg A "Fox" star never appears on the "ABC" DWTS and you would never see a Neighbours star (Which airs on Eleven) appearing on the recently cancelled "Seven" DWTS. We are just lucky that BBC don't blanket ban stars from other networks appearing on Strictly.

Please no, we'd be stuck with a whole load of TOWIE and Geordie Shore cast members like they have on all the ITV shows

Companies normally ban their staff from any competition with a cash or valuable prize, Strictly Come Dancing winners just get the Glitter Ball.

As has been noted, few of the people actually work for the BBC so if you say that anyone appearing on the BBC should be banned then their would be few left. Is it coincidence that as Danny only appears in a soap opera on another channel then he would qualify?

Louise did a BBC series, BBC cover gymnastics so that is them banned .......

No, in fact, why should anyone be banned?

Well let's pretend for a moment that Ore is a BBC employee. If BBC employees were banned then Ore wouldn't have won and Danny may have. That's the crux of the op's argument.

Also, how far back would you take this ban? Because surely if say a popular presenter or Eastenders actor had just left their job or contract then they'd still have the benefit from residual viewer recognition and BBC promotion.

And what about the celebs that have never worked for the BBC but they may want to aquire? If you're really into those conspiracy theories then the dastardly BBC could use the show in order to lure them, test their appeal and subsequently offer them a job (seems to work for IACGMOOH).

Nah, banning all celebs who have ever have appeared on the BBC just wouldn't work and isn't necessary.

Or those chucking around the accusations could just remember that the BBC didn't look after Naga or Tameka this year.

Talent are nearly all freelance in any case.

Completely agree with this.
'Should BBC Staff be banned from Strictly Come dancing?' = 'I am not at all happy that Ore has won.' Another variation on the 'let's bash Ore' theme.

Ban people who work for BBC; ban everyone who has ever set foot on a dance floor; ban everyone who has been to stage school.....................................

Next headline "Strictly Axed for Lack of Contestants......"

I'd far rather ban nonsensical reasons to start yet another thread.

Now that's something I could agree with. A ban for anyone who has appeared on reality TV (or "structured reality" shows) would be fine with me. But thankfully we haven't had many of them, have we ?

I wish they would top using their 'staff'.............they are always plugging them as the series goes along.
My guess is that another BBC Breakfast bod is already being lined up for next year....

maybe that girl who reads the sport or the business presenter?

No. Don't be ridiculous.
Why do some posters insist on embarrassing themselves?
