Final Five Thoughts
1. Loved all the showdance dresses! Especially Jo's.
2. Loved that bit where Danny pushed the mirror over 3. I suddenly fancy Melvin Odoom now he has a beard! 4. I think Tess looked beautiful and I don't mind her wooden presenting, after all she is part of the furniture! (See what I did there? )5. Saturday nights are going to be very quiet now. Merry Christmas one and all

1. They all looked spent, completely exhausted.
2. Showdances were all appreciated but Jo pulled it out the bag with that. 3. Danny's showdance felt too similar in style to the Samba. 4. Louise didn't seem to be trying that hard during her dances. 5. Awww, it's been an emotional series and I'm chuffed with the winner. |

1. Disappointed with the result
2. Disappointed with the final three 3. Actually felt sorry for Kevin - never thought I would say that. 4. Enjoyed watching Claudia, Ed and Judge. 5. For the first time, actually not sorry its finished. Sorry to be so negative but that's how I feel at the moment. |

1. There was no hip action in Louise's Cha Cha Cha but her AT was better than before.
2. Danny was the winner for me but congrats to Ore and Joanne. 3. I won't miss Len but the tribute to him was emotional. 4. The professional dance for Len was so beautiful - why can't we have more of this rather than throwing Janette around like a sack of potatoes? 5. All over for another year. Merry Christmas to all of you!! |

1. Poor Louise. She had to re-do legwarmers.
2. Hooray Louise! Kevin tried so hard for Bacofoil 2 but Louise ruined it by killing herself laughing all the way through her show dance. I've never loved her more. 3. Show dances should bite the dust. They are irredeemably awful. Either saccharine to the nth degree or pretentious. 4. On the night's dancing, the right person won. Phooey. Cos I liked Danny best after Tameka went. 5. Never, ever, ever watch the Strictly final with nigh-on a dozen university-aged boys on their pre-drinks night out session with you in your living room. This is a mistake I shall not repeat. |

1. Very predictable in the end
2. Die was cast when Danny and Oti fell into the bottom two last week 3. Die was cast when they gave Louise and Kevin their Cha Cha to reprise 4. Die was cast when they hauled Gene Kelly's widow to her feet after Ore and Joanne's American Smooth 5. Saying all that, on the night... Ore and Jo definitely deserved it. Congratulations to them both! |

I remember when Gene Kelly's widow responded to Jo and Ore's week 3 AS she said then that she wanted to meet them. She wasn't shipped over or hauled to her feet. She was there for her own reasons. Bruno's words about capturing the essence of the dance without pastiche echo what Kelly himself said about influence.
I rather suspect Patricia was there for her husband |

1) Ore danced very well, but it all felt a bit manufactured for him to win in the end. I expect him to be given some pretty big BBC gigs now after his Strictly coming out show.
2) I had a feeling Danny might crumble in the final. Such a shame his QS went wrong. Loved his show dance and seeing his samba again though. He got my votes. 3) Louise was just generally very dull. What with the cha-cha being brought back out and the awful choice of show dance music it was obvious she was there as the token girl. 4) The final really missed Claudia. 5) Loved the ballroom routine put on for Len. |

1. Loved Danny's showdance - Oti's choreography was stunning
2. Danny's samba - even better the second time around 3. The dance for Len was so sweet 4. Loved watching Greg in the final group dance - he is so charismatic and gorgeous to boot 😍 5. Loving the friendship of Greg + Judge Rinder so much 😊 |

1. A celeb with no previous dance training wins! Well done Ore and Joanne!
2. It was a slick feel-good Final. 3. The judges selling hard - nine dances with a total of nine nines. (and 27 tens). ![]() 4. Nice farewell to Len. 5. Still can't see the improvement in the dances.

Maybe so but they had a camera on her, they showed her applause, they announced her presence. It was certainly an added star nod which the others didn't get.
Going on to blether now. I know someone (who knows someone ) who was good friends with Primo Levi, a writer and a human being I admire beyond reason. But the closeness of the past is staggering through those casual human connections. The touchability of the lives of people who are gone... I'm not a cynic about these things. There's a life in them that carries forward

I don't mean to state the obvious but it's winking at me... She was there. It's a proper thing. The past doesn't disappear somehow.

The shake of the dice at Blackpool had it too. When he was allowed both his week 3 and 4 dances back again in the final, he was a superhero with all his superhero powers fully charged. Then the showdance brilliantly captured that shimmer too. Clever Jo (and brilliant Ore!), I say. But he had had an uneven progress through the weeks, sometimes good, sometimes not dazzling enough and very much the beginner. |

I know this is the five thoughts thread, but could I just ask a question about something as it is mentioned above, and it isn't worth starting a new thread over. Pardon my ignorance, but what is Bacofoil referring to? I've seen it mentioned a few times, but completely missed what it means?

One thing I will concede about Ore's win -- it really wasn't the whole truth of his Strictly. He had a golden period that he didn't fully recapture in the later rounds, where by chance, physique, charisma, choreography, great music, whatever, he found two stardust-filled moments. Since then he's been Lenny Henry's David Bellamy, had an indifferent salsa etc.

1. Felt sorry for Danny, what a time to mess up
Showdance and Samba very similar in feeling ![]() 2. Wanted more from Ore and Joanne's showdance, such great music and great dance but felt they spent too long jumping around on drums ![]() 3. Poor Kev, 4th final and still no win, though he looked so pleased for Jo ![]() 4. Felt judges did not want Louise to win. Both Danny and Ore given a dance they had already done really well in, Lou given bloody flashdance cha cha! 5. Merry Christmas ... off to buy the tree 🎄 |

Five Thoughts of a Casual viewer with no Fave this year.
1.Louise wasn't that bothered about winning. Which is why she probably never could have, she's enjoyed it but I think that she's glad it's all over.Despite her storyline being 'the housewife getting her groove back' I suspect that she's perfectly happy to carry on as before. 2.Weird one but..Dannys a very attractive man but his trousers in the dances bothered me, and not in a good way . Why they so wide cut and flappy?3.They looked genuinely surprised at winning. It was a real Will (rather ironically) beats Gareth moment and nice to watch. 4.I dislike show dances, even my absolute fave contestants have never produced anything I've really liked before. I usually just sort of think that they were alright and I'm glad that bits out of the way (Georgia) or cringe at them (Kara) but I loved Ores. It was a real feel good show stopper. 5.I too loved the Len tribute dance. It reminded me of Call the Midwife somehow. I could imagine a musical based on that show and era and I suppose that fits with Lens initial introduction to dance and I thought it was a very fitting, sweet farewell. |

1. Brilliant final with three lovely couples and the right winner - I loved it.
2. Disappointed we didn't get to see Danny's foxtrot again 3. Lovely tribute to Len 4. This is the loveliest group of pros - I hope they're all back. 5. Danny and Ore's showdances were wonderful - I could watch them on repeat. Bonus 6 - I was so glad that the nastiness of the last week on social media and the press didn't pay off. Hopefully people will re-evaluate their behaviour next year now that they realise their attacks and meanness doesn't pay off. The celebrities this year, most of whom who were all genuinely nice people, didn't deserve the level of vitriol some were spitting in the name of ~supporting their personal faves. |

1. Series finished for me after Greg, Ed and the Judge went out
2. Ore deserved to win on the night 3. Didn't like the X factor style opening 4. Good send off for Len 5, Disappointed no follow up IT Takes 2 Show..... massive hype and build up over the series and then no interview with the winners or runners up and no analysis of the final dances |

1. Ore was best on the night.
2. Danny was best over the whole series. 3. Louise is lovely but the final did show that she shouldn't have got that third place over Claudia. And for all those saying the cha cha was a bad choice, which of her Latin dances would you have chosen? Overmarking meant there was little room for improvement in the scores IMO. 4. Time fora shake up in the judges but Len's tribute was lovely and I do hope they replace him with someone of a similar background. 5. I think the Clifton quota will be down next year because I don't think Jo will return. I think a career on the musical theatre stage beckons and going out on a high must be very appealing. |
