CB SSB users
Hi.
Just wondering if there are any legal SSB CB users out there? I am especially looking for operators in the SW London area as I am thinking about starting a weekly or monthly net. This would be on (if clear) channel 25 mid-band... 27.245MHz USB. Thanks. |

Yes it is, but I don't ever recall SSB being the normal method of transmission. I thought UK CB was FM transmission only .

Why not just go ahead and do it, and see what happens? The December 2013 statement allows 12 Watts p.e.p. rather than the 4 Watts AM so you should get out quite well with a roof mounted antenna.
Wouldn't be surprised if you were disappointed with the results as, to get the best out of SSB, you have to have a setup capable or accurately tuning in divisions of 10 Hz or below. If you get involved in a net, with everyone having very slightly different frequency offsets, you'll constantly be hunting around trying to reduce the 'Donald Duck' effect. |

There are a few CB groups on Facebook that advertise weekly nets. I joined one last year as was out in nearby hills and surprised how much i could hear. Most were running above the usual 4w though.
