So I was wanting to watch the Snooker on the channel "Quest" but I can't get it, I just get the message saying i need to upgrade to receive the channel, but my parents who just have an aerial shoved in the back of the tv can receive it?

Is it something to do with sky being funny because they want you to stop using the box free of charge? But still, I don't know how they can charge for a free channel?

Thanks

The simple answer is Quest isn't free to air, it's encrypted on satellite (videoguard) and requires a subscription. There are other similar channels (Dave) for instance available on Freeview but encrypted on satellite.

Why don't you stick an aerial in the back of your TV ?

I see, thanks for that

The reason we don't use a normal aerial is because we have huge trees right next to our house and the aerials already installed are not getting a strong enough signal. Whereas our sky dish I had mounted on the top apex of the roof to clear the trees. Wasn't aware I couldn't get all the channels that freeview via an aerial can get.

You can just move the TV aerial around to get the best signal - yes I know it is outside
It does not matter, if you are competent you can do it yourself or get an aerial installer to do it for you
Or a friend who knows what he is doing

You just need to undo the Clamps and take down the aerial and reposition it

Yeah I know it's quite easy, might look into it in the new year.
