Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in one of the threads but it is now possible to cap off your inclusive UK data allowance on personal pay monthly accounts through the My Vodafone app.

This has been a long time coming and I'm surprised it's come so soon as I understood it to be released in 2017 or even later.

Maybe things are finally starting to happen at Vodafone systems-wise that are positive. Maybe they've finally smoothed out most of the Siebel bugs.

I'm no longer a Vodafone customer but there was an app update a few months ago (September, I think) which mentioned data capping in the U.K.

Was never activated before I ported to o2 but it's about time!

So speeds on Vodafone have now increased to the point where you're now in danger of using too much data

Halle-bloody-lujah!

Finally, all the MNOs cap data.

Now it's about time the minority of MVNOs did so too. I'm looking at you, TalkMobile, TalkTalk Mobile and Virgin.

And it's about time other networks capped minutes and other out-of-bundle spending like Three does.

AFAIK Tesco Mobile/BT Mobile also have caps to avoid any overages.

I can't find this feature on the My Vodafone app on iOS. Can you give more specific directions to it?

Thanks for that.

Unfortunately it seems that either this feature hasn't been added to the iOS app (perhaps somebody else can confirm?) or it just isn't available on my account.

When I select "My products and services" I see nothing about "Vodafone Data Manager". I also logged into "My Vodafone" via the web and hunted around but didn't find it there either.

Hmm strange... there is an SMS code you can send to cap the data too but i cannot remember it from the live chat I had yesterday with Vodafone about it, when I attempted to send the SMS it replied saying it wasn't recognised so I gave up and went with the App Method

I'm used to things not quite working properly with Vodafone!

You aren't the only one, it's not showing that in my app either.

It's a little silly if they have only rolled out the data cap option to Android customers

Oh how very strange!

It might sound obvious but you have checked in your app store that your My Vodafone app is the latest?

For those that cannot enable it from their My Vodafone app you can switch on the UK Data Cap by texting: 'UK CAP ON' to '40506'. (without the ')

Just ten minutes ago I found an article which incorrect stated you could text "UK ON" to 40506. Obviously it didn't work. I have just tried this though and it has worked.

David Gover:
UK CAP ON
40506:
From Vodafone: Thanks for your request to add your UK data cap. We'll text you as soon as it's in place (this usually takes 5 minutes but can take a few hours).

Thanks for the info.

I've just tested the cap, it works perfectly, all data stops and you receive a text letting you know that you can purchase additional data or remove the cap and pay per 250mb.

Yes I believe it's the latest, version 6.3. Followed your photo examples and don't have the option. The page is the same but no data manager option. Why on some and not on others? Only thing that comes to mind is my account used to be business and converted back to consumer over a year ago.

Looking at https://www.vodafone.co.uk/explore/costs/data-charges/ it says:

Please note: the UK data cap is switched off as standard. It’s only available on Pay monthly and SIM only bundles bought after 5 May 2016, or Mobile Broadband and tablet bundles bought after 28 September 2016.
