What are you on about?
4x3 vhs as in they take a 21:9 film and pan and scan it to vhs meaning you've watched overly zoomed in films. You are only having a 4:3 image broadcast with the rest of the original image removed. Nothing is zoomed in on at all. If you manually change the aspect ratio on your TV so a 21:9 image fills the vertical space then the TV is having to alter, adjust ,zoom the image to make it fit. |

Am pretty sure there is no difference between UHD and 4K when it comes to the picture size.
Something filmed in 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 will still be in those dimensions in 4K. The picture will just be sharper. Happy to be corrected if wrong though. |

What you do is don't press the 'zoom' Button. I watched a blu ray last night and gave all the zoom functions a go, all they do is distort the aspect ratio. 'I don't like it therefore everyone else is silly and selfish' you really have no idea what I'm on about |

You're not wrong. He was probably joking. They will of course sit inside a 16:9 shaped black (for example) box.
UHD = 3840 × 2160 Isn't there a tiny issue there i.e. A bit of cropping etc if dimensions are off by a few pixels on the wide? So something shot in 4K will be cropped a bit if viewed on a 16x9 Tv |

It's probably worth mentioning that zooming in to fill the screen with a picture 'wider' than 16:9 lowers the effective vertical resolution compared to broadcasting it at full screen height., so it's not going to please everyone. And any decent TV should offer multiple zoom settings that do not distort unless you want them to. If they don't offer that, it's a design issue.

UHD = 3840 × 2160 Think uhd is spot on to fit 16x9, 4K requires re sizing It all gets scaled to 16x9 apparently thought I think 4K is re jigged into the televisual thingometer to fit with 16x9 |

Its actually you that doesn't have a single clue what you're talking about and on top of that, you expect films to be cropped to suit your silly and inane need to fill a screen!
And i see you also have no idea of what an aspect ratio is! I watch emmerdale in 4x3 on my rear view projection monitor it's sooooo good especially when I zoom in to the lower third dog |

Quantum of Solace was on ITV 2 this evening in 2.35:1. The first time a Bond film has been shown in OAR by ITV. I wonder if they have obtained fresh copies or if this was a mistake. Hopefully the others follow suit.

Skyfall, showing on ITV2 for the 1st time in OAR. It's good to see that ITV have got new prints of the Bond films, and decided to show them this way for the 1st ime ever.

ITV don't tend to censor stuff after 9pm unless they've only got the censored print to hand and are showing that.
Getting the SkyFall in the OAR would mean they got a new print and yet, i guarantee they still cut the f-bomb from M out and cut some of the violence too! I will see when they're next screening it and watch it, (As painful as that will be to watch an ITV-hacked film) and see. |
